As many of you had read elsewhere, Ebony one of my Holland lop fosters has become paralyzed at the end of her spine making movement in her back legs near impossible.
Ebony is about 5 years old and lives with Mittens, Eb did have a spinal injury before coming to me, so though she couldn't walk in a straight line, she had allot more movement then she has now.
I had to take her to my own Vet as i couldn't wait for someone at my rescue to get back to me and drive her an hour away. My vet was awesome with her.
I have bought a fake sheepskin flat dog bed for ebony, and it seems to be working quite well to keep her dry, as she no longer has control of her bowels, and cannot get inside of a litter box.
Her poops are small, but that is common with paralysis in rabbits. She is still eating quite well and won't refuse a treat
I'm looking into ways to keep her comfortable, and hopefully to get her a wheel chair so she can get around again.
The problem is with Ebony's illness she takes allot more time to care for now making me have less time for the others.
I'm thinking of adopting Ebony & Mittens as I doubt anyone will want to take on a handicap middle aged bunny, plus it would have to be an exceptional home I couldn't let her go to just anyone.
So i have the extra 4 fosters for a month more (Then they go to our new free run shelter ) and i am now thinking of giving up the three other fosters I have to our shelter so i have more time for Ebony.
On top of everything the gerbil population has exploded in my home (Still looking for foster/forever homes) though my three girl Degus have been adopted as of the end of this week
