He's my first hamster, got him through a first-come first serve free ad (He was living in small, sticky, unventilated, smelly conditions, with soiled pine bedding and nothing to chew on but two toilet paper rolls, one which was soaking wet) He is such a sweetheart even after how rough he's been handled, and the sad conditions he was stuck living in. Very very sweet, loves to cuddle as well And he is *very* happy to have a wheel and a ton of floor space, clean, safe bedding to burrow in, and an all-around healthier/friendlier home. Meet my special little boy, Ryvre:

Welcome to RR, khay!
That fur just begs to be touched! What a cutie! And I can't say I've ever seen a hamster sleep on his side as in the fifth photo!
So the white band appeared as he grew older?

Thanks! lol, Ryvre was actually very comfy in that position. I checked on him, lifted the kleenex box off (He's a sound sound sleeper) and saw him like that so I had to take a picture....He was like that until I woke him up with the flash of the camera (Oops, lol) The last picture is him going back to sleep very irritated with me Um, nope....I've only had Ryvre for a few days actually, lol A few pictures, I guess it is just the angle as to why you can't see his white band

Hi. Welcome again.
He initially reminded me due to the color of the famous Puck, Jeannie's late ham, but then I saw the band. Very pretty. I once rescued two Syrian brothers in the same small cage on CEDAR bedding! I started a thread on that in this forum; you can find it.
So how'd you get that name? Very nice.

Animals never hold a grudge, at least not these ones. (I hear elephants might).

Thanks Those hammies must have been very fortunate for you to find them Well I'm a bit of a hippy at heart I just love the name River lol, and chose a different spelling. Yeah that is true; However I wish Ryv would've bitten a good chunk out of those fingers before we left. He was too sweet to them to be treated this way.

Thanks! And yes it still makes me heartsick thinking about what I seen there Especially because he is so incredibly sweet. Just wanted to say, we were at the vet today for a checkup, vet thinks he's around 1 yr old, but has determined he is a pretty healthy hammy! Which I think is *very* lucky...For him and mommy
