I can't rememebr if I posted here about my Foster Degus I picked up a while back that were dropped off at the Animal Control. Anyways there where 5 in a tupperware container. I sexed them as 2 males and 3 females,a dn with a friend who bred Degus in the past we figured it out that we had a Mom & Dad with kids. Well though seperated now.... It seems for sure one of the females (mom) is pregnent and one of the daughters 'may' be. I'm trying to stay positive, and think of what a great experiance this will be for me. Though it's hard when you know there are allready so many in need of homes in my area. So I don't know how much time I have, she's balooned pretty quickly. I'm waiting for a lady to drop off my 15G tank so I can do tank switches, as I want to put the female Degus in the 50G tank so there is alot of floor spcae for the young ones and nothing for them to hurt themselves on. So wish us luck with a safe pregnancy & birth... and hopefully a smaller litter This is Momma Degu "Cici" on my sholder

Thanks again for helping. This is especially so with degus who need more room, and climbing room, of course. What is that wrapped around her back right leg??

Ohhh! I had NO idea what it was. I assume you two got loose without having to cut it. If I asked this before, sorry. But how do their personalities compare to gerbils?

Girls New Habitat, Lots of space if they decide to pop any babies out I find they are quite similar. Degus make alot more noises, with their chrips and squeeks, they are very vocal. They are just as fast as a gerbil, even thought they are bigger in size. I find their personalities kind of dog like, some of them just want to be near you and want your attention and affection. But they are like big, vocal, agouti gerbils (with orange teeth).

Maybe ruder though. I never saw gerbils knock each other off perches!
Those swinging deals my spiny mice would love. The tubes are wood I assume?
Should degus have a wheel??

Yes, they are more bossy for sure. The Tubes are actually hard cardboard, they work great. Yes Degu's LOVE wheels. The two boy degus I have got a wheel last night As for the girls, well 1) I cannot afford one 2) if there are babies comming then there shouldn't be any wheels in the cage untill babies are fully grown.

I assume 8 1/2" wheels are way too small?
Use use wheels for ferrets?

I have one of those big old spoked wheels (it was donated to me), i covered it in paper and it works great. Ya i think more like 10" or so would be a good size. I'd have to do some looking, for I've never bought a wheel bigger then the ones I have for the gerbils.

Wouldn't those ferret wheels do OK? They seem bigger than 10".
