TAKE THE DOG QUIZI learned of this at the Dog Show yesterday at Madison Square Garden. MY results were the terrier group. This is a slightly more precise test below (under the photo where it says 'Link'), and is worth trying. In this test my results were much more specific: 84% Sussex Spaniel; 82% Clumber Spaniel; 80% American Eskimo Dog; 80% Finnish Spitz; 78% Australian Shepherd. Norwegian Elkhound and Saluki and also listed as possibly good for me. I think the Spitz might be my top choice. Opinions? LINK

You and I must lead similar lives, DF--I got the Clumber, the Eskimo, and the Finnish Spitz too. Of course I also got Bill Cosby's dog--which does nothing for me, sorry. . . I also got the Bulldog--another one that does nothing for me. I just don't have time for a dog right now. Fuzz, his needs, and his sleep/wake cycle suit me just fine!

All of those breeds are very pretty that you got. I'm not a big fan of the Elkhound, but they are pretty none-of-the-less. Let's see I got: the sporting group first with a big Golden on the front of it, yay. LINK RIGHT HEREFor the second one I got: LINK RIGHT HERE^Not a bad list of breeds, and I love the first dog (the Sussex). [shadow=red,left,300][/shadow]

Sporting Group for me...
88% American Eskimo Dog 88% Clumber Spaniel 88% Sussex Spaniel
85% Finnish Spitz - I love Spitz Breeds.
But really the size of dog isn't a real big deal, anything under 60lbs would be good for me. I actually like Pom's and Basenjis.

Dang really? Well for the first one I got the Sporting group with a big Golden on the front.
The second one I got mainly the Sussex Spaniel, then the American Eskimo and I forget who came in third.

Anyone remember Mark Spitz? He wasn't a dog. ;D
Look him up!

I'm "old" like you, DF, so I know--but let's see if anyone younger looks him up!

Mark Spitz was a champion Olympic swimmer. I vaguely recall he also made a big deal about being Jewish. When I visted the Olympic-sized pool at West Point (my friend was teaching there and an officer so he got me in) the record for something for that pool was still help by Spitz.
BTW, regarding the Finnish Spitz I mentioned above as a dog that could be right for me, the price I got for a pure breed at the pet store was $700 - about what I thought, maybe a bit more.
But I could never buy an expensive purebreed without simultaneously rescuing a mixed breed from a shelter.

$700 is high, but about right. My Mom asked a lady one time, as we were petting her dog, how much the Teacup Yorkie costs. $900.00, now that is high for a small dog!
Finnish Spitz are beautiful dogs and if you wanted to rescue one, all you would have to do is go to a rescue organization to do so. There is one for every breed out there.

There may niot be many available, though. From the rescue site. . . "Presley" needs to lose weight!

Aww, poor Presley. Overweight dogs have more problems, just like any animal or human would. I hope he loses weight. And yeah, there's a rescue organization for every breed out there.

I used to live in Doylestown, PA, where there's a very active greyhound rescue. A lot of folks in the town had them and walked them around the very walkable downtown area. I did a 5K run once called "Runners Helping Racers" that was a fundraiser for the rescue.
