Andrea, my brother named my dog "Jellybean" after a small black puppy in a kid's book, "Clues in the Woods". She was so sweet and friendly that she actually LIKED to go to the vet, because she could socialize with everyone in the waiting room! That piqued my curiosity, so I dug up the book online. Here's was powellsc.om has to say. Sorry for the non-PC bits, it WAS the 60's that we read it!: "Who or what is taking the kitchen scraps from the garbage every night? What starts out as a puzzle becomes a mystery. Every night Grandma leaves table scraps in a wrapped plastic bag in the garbage can where, according to plan, the McNellis children pick them up to feed their kittens. But the plan changes when the bag is gone in the morning. The twins, Liza and Bill, and brother Jed decide to investigate the matter. First the children discover Liza's missing red sweater in a part of the woods she hadn't been to before, next they read about runaway children in the newspaper, and then their new puppy is lost. Finally they find a teepee in the woods with what seems to be Indians in warpaint dancing and shooting arrows! The young detectives must put all the clues together and solve the mystery."

Cute he liked to go to the vet and meet the other dogs. How about a DOG RUN somewhere? I posted photos of the Central Park dog run here on RR and it is great fun for dogs and humans alike.

I wasn't really aware of dog parks/runs etc back then. However, there was a kennel a ways from here (Mission, Andrea) where I'd leave the dogs if I were travelling. It was out in the woods, and the dogs had several pens for like-sized/personalitied dogs as well as the kennels they stayed in at night. The dogs were out playing all day and when I'd come back to take them home they always looked fantastic, all fit and glossy coats! I'm sure they usually had a better holiday than *I* did! *lol* It was like their summer camp!

His eyes look a lovely cobalt blue! I think it was from the flash. I wish my Dog would get along with other dogs. She even growled at little Deisel when he was over Last week she attacked my neighbors dog (long story, everyones ok). Rescue dogs can be alot of fun and alot of work sometimes.

Rescue dogs come from difficult environments, and if street dogs they had to fight for food.
I hope Kate can answer the question about the "cobalt blue eyes" you refered to; I don't know.
