How'd you find that??
Fascinating.
My Heather the cockatiel recently lost a leg. Any peg-legs available for tiels??

Lost a leg? How did that happen? Did the leg get trapped in something?
As for Angel, I figured that there was more of a story somewhere, so I googled "Angel bird prosthetic beak." I found in the process that there's an amazing bird rescue in the town in MN that my high school buddy lives in. One more reason to visit sometime. . .

Minnesota? I'm on the next train! Saw this afternoon at the gym on the news a dolphin learning to swim. . . with a prosthetic tail! Heather flew down to the rat cage and started walking around. A rat took a nibble - just enough to start necrosis. The leg stiffened. Susan advised me on this, and the next day I told her to my shock the leg was lying on the cage floor! She advised me to keep it as a talisman. I was planning to anyway.

The site is very cool. Oh poor Heather I believe someone on the SARSBC board had a birdy with only one leg, and they made her ramps in the cage to go up and down. If i am also correct I believe the bird passed away recently due to old age.

Heather uses her beak as a foot and can climb up the side of the cage. She just can't perch well. My concern is her out of the cage. I am not sure what to do, but leaving her 24.7 in the cage is a bad option.

Are you in a loft or a 1 or so bedroom type apartment? If you have a bedroom you could let her fly in there if there are no ratties?

The rats are in the bedroom. Glue boards are on the floor for the agouti mice. That's the problem. Eventually I can and will remove the boards (but I heard another mouse an hour ago!) eventually, but at best she'd have to be supervised. . . and getting Heather back in the cage would be a hassle for us both.

Glue boards for the mice?? What do you do with the ones you catch? Use oil to remove them?

Glue boards for the mice?? What do you do with the ones you catch? Use oil to remove them? Obviously. Corn oil. Followed by another trip with the ten gallon tank to release them in huge and wild Prospect Park (which is on the Web)..

Wow, Angel is one lucky bird! And with a good owner too.
