So my 45G Split tank is DONE (well almost). My last tank of 3 girls declanned So in my New tank is Alero (the girl who was getting picked on) and little Capri (who's second tank mate has died). They havn't squabbled, or tryed to attack one another through the divider or nothing! so maybe it'll be a quick split (knock on wood). I'm waiting on my 15G tank to come home, then all my tank/gerbil switching will be done, and I should have two 10G tanks, 1 bin cage and my small duna empty! Also ALL my gerbils will either have a tank mate, or a permenent split caged buddy. YEAY! Anyways, let's get to the pictures! This is looking through the doorway to the right, as you can see there-she-be, my new 45G tank! (And my 50G closest to the door) The tank is just as wide as a 10G tank, but almost 3 of them long, and well, alot taller. Unlike my 50G split which has one large lid with a hinge in the middle, this tank has 2 lids, one for each side. And the rest of the tour.... This is looking through the doorway to the left It's sure looking a lot more empty now that i'm switching gerbils around, and only have 1 tank of fosters. Alero in her new home... Carlo in his new home (the 20G long), isn't he cute? I'll have more pictures of him & his brother later on (Cameras charging).

Fascinating. Can you SLEEP in there?? (noise?). You make those wooden frames for the tanks? That is quite a fine job; wish you were here to help me. I have some splitting to do soon. Why not create levels out of heavy cardboard? They love to hide under it or get on top of it and look around. I cut them to size from a Poland Spring box pressing the sides against the glass and creating that other level. Sort of doubles the room. Photos are in the Habitat forum, where this is going to be! Thanks for posting!

No sleeping for me in there.... That room is for rodents only, My bedroom is upstairs away from teh squeeky wheels LOL... The dividers are made of steal, my honey welds them together for me (knew this engineer thing would come in handy LOL). I could stand on top of the 50G splits frame, it's VERY sturdy. I have levels in the 50G tank made from Spice racks w/ cardboard on top. I JUST finished my 45G late last night, so as I said it's done 'almost'. I want to keep it pretty bouring in their so that the two gerbils pay more attention to one another. Also we ran out of metal mesh for the second lid, and i think if a gerbil was able to reach they could get out of it. Just a few little things to get done

>> I want to keep it pretty bouring in their so that the two gerbils pay more attention to one another. << Why? Breeding? The cardboard levels also gives them fun in terms of something to gnaw. I wish I had a honey to weld me some frames. ;D

$9.95 for a ten gallon, but I can find them in stores often for 7.95. You will also of course need a 9.95 mesh top.
Twenty gallons cost a lot more, I forget how much. But you can check on line. They are also really heavy: I once tried to carry one home a mile in distance. I'm not exactly weak, but could not do it; I got a car service.
