When my mom and godmother went shopping yesterday, we passed a small cluster of pet shops. The birds were sick, with little food and less water, and some were bald with blistering feet b'cos of the dirty cage. What really saddened me was the hamsters. They had about a 10-15 gallon tank, sure, enough space, but NO food and NO water. They were all wet b'cos a guy had gone a squirted water all over them and they were running around frantically to get away from the water. Did I mention they were Syrians, and were just weaned. The only healthy animals we saw were a bunch of little kittens.

Call the SPCA and report it - that is horrible!!! Those hamsters could get ill from being wet, and they need food.

they can easily catch respiratory infections as a result of it. It's really important that hamsters are kept dry.

A suggestion. There is little point in telling us about the abuse without doing something about it.
The first is to stop any mmediate abuse. The second is to see the store manager about it. The third is to see or contact the pet store chain's district manager or the store owner. The fourth is to contact the SPCA and other Humane societies sbout this criminal activity. The fifth is to contact the news media, television and newspapers and keep the pressure on.
In this case, if the store owner/manager did not take IMMEDiATE action I'd have done the first four things right away.
Good luck, and thanks for caring.

If I were you, I would report it to the ASPCA or any animal organizations that live near you. They shouldn't do that to their animals; I hate people who do that to animals. Jerks...
