Nice Photos DF. Good that the weather turned out too. I worked all day, and I mean all day. I was in that building for 15 hours today. Yikes.

Enjoyed the photos. And congrats on the award! It's great that you are so involved in the community, and that others recognize that.

Thanks. I was there today taking photos of the exhibit itself, and that will be posted soon enough.
Oh, yea. How'd you like the Afghan?

When I read this, I said, "Afghan??" Then I went back to the pictures. I missed that one somehow! Cool! I haven't seen one in a while. Growing up, I had a neighbor with one named Sheba. What hipbones! But speaking of bones, she got hold of some chicken ones and that was the end of her. Sad.

As I understand it, yes. Or maybe it was worse than that and that's what my parents could/would tell an 11 year-old.
But back to the photo: pretty dog!

Pretty Afghan. Looks like he or she has recently gotten a haircut, no? Isn't their hair normally very long?

Nice photos. You take nice photos, as always.
I've never seen a shaved Afghan before. The Bearded Collie, Pug, the mix breed (he looks like a familiar breed), and the horse are real nice. The horse looks familiar too; it looks like either a French Trotter was my first guess, but after looking in the horse book, it looks more Gelderland. The head of the dog looks Anatolian, but I've never seen one as a puppy before. He still could be a mix, but he does look like he has a bit of Anatolian in him.

Ah! So it was "shaved"? Looked trimmed.

Looks shaved to me. A trim is basically when you cut uneven hairs. That Afghan definitly looks shaved. You ever see a show dog Afghan?...I'm guessing yes, then you've seen how long it's fur can grow. You can tell how some dogs are shaved too. All it's hair is gone! ;D
And that blooming pup is annoying me. His head looks Anatolian, but the rest of his body doesn't. Oh well, I guess he is a mixed breed.

They shave with a RAZOR?!?
Yes, I have seen show Afghans - loads of fur.

Not the kind of razor that you guys shave with, but groomers have their own special tools to help them shave the dog's fur off. Doesn't hurt them a bit. Let me see if I can pull a pic for you.
Blast, I can't find them. Perhaps it's b/c I don't know what they're called. I strayed far from the grooming room with my allergies. But anyway, they're sort of square shaped with little razor edge shaped at the end of it. It makes a humming noise when it's on. When grooming the dog stands real still on a table & if it starts to act up (ex: biting) we muzzel them.

Oh. Like shearing a sheep?
I'd bite you too if you used one of those on me! ;D
