Yes, humans are stupid, and when it's animal protection groups, it's all the stupider. I read this on another group. The first part was her first post, then she followed it up with the info below. I've also added additional RSPCA contact info from another reply to her, below that. Linda > > I was very disconcerted to have read my local newspaper today and > > found that the RSPCA are having a day at a local primary school called > > splat a rat day! The main feature of this day, which somehow aims to > > educate kids about animals, will be a game in which the children chase > > plastic rats whith bats and squash them! It's in Birmingham (England). This is very wrong and lots of people are worried about it. It takes place this Saturday and is supposed to be about teaching kids to be green! I urge you as rat lovers to send your complaints to the organisers at: contact@birmingham. gov.uk a.j.dingley@ bham.ac.uk contactus@west- midlands. police.uk contact@wmfs. net And send your opinions to the newspaper at Birmingham_news@ mm.co.uk This would be a great help as rats have a bad enough repuation as it is without sending such a negative message out to the next generation. - - - And yet the Birmingham RSPCA does have pet rats on it's homepage available for adoption. www.tinyurl.com/37go5rHere is the contact page for the National RSPCA: www.tinyurl.com/89amv

How is that educational? Sounds like pest control nothing to do with pets. Disgusting.

Wait, wait, wait...the RSPCA which is supposed to help animals is teaching children that it's okay to hit rats? There's something totally wrong here. They are sending out the wrong message. I can't believe these people, and they say they're for animals? Ha-idiots!!

It makes no sense at all. None. In NYC several years ago on WABC News, a reporter went to Washington Heights - a congested area where there supposedly were too many rats running loose. Some guy captured them and set them loose individually - where people based them with cricket bats. Medieval. No bear baiting? I reported it to the appropriate people. Here is the good part. The reporter who covered this sadism, Sade Baderinwa, soo after was herself smashed good and hard by a hit-and-run car that left her with a broken arm, internal injuries, and off the air for months. and THAT, lady, is karma payback.

I'm reading the info in the post below as one of those "a friend of a friend spoke to the school organizers" who CLAIM (and I'll believe all this when I "see" it...or rather, hear back on what actually transpired), that the RSCPA isn't actually involved, but this is a "cleaning" lesson for kids (?)
"The original photo was supposed of the kiddies holding their " Keep things tidy " posters - she (the organiser) said at the time that she thought the poster was inciting violence! She's going to get rid of the images of rats around the game and block out the words " the Rat " so it'll simply look like a game called splat, and they'll be hitting Mars bars - maybe it's not ideal, but it promotes a better image than the original. "
Ok, my first question is, if not the SPCA and the organizer herself doesn't say who, who the heck designed these posters and got the original "ok" to use them?? Even the organizer thought "they were inciting violence".
My second question is...I now don't get what the heck they are trying to demonstrate.
"Get things tidy by beating up chocolate bars = ?"

I'm confused. Sounds idiotic and pointless, and vaguely sadistic.
