I'm Totally in love I Named him after Rudolph Valentino(silent movie-actor), his nickname will be Valé...I'll post some pictures later. When everything goes according to plans he and Little Egypt(From my own litter) will have some babies in a couple of months

I love old black&white/Silent movies Even my grandparents didn't know who Rudolph Valentino was! And Humphrey Bogart was someone they only knew from Casablanca(My other male hams is named after him) After I told one of my friends I had a new hamster named Valé, the first thing she said was: Aah, you called this one after Valentino Rossi! ;D Valé is a Syrian, but over here it isn't that hard to find good homes. And if there are a few left they can stay here, I have allot of Empty cages/Tanks so they all can have their own.

In my large landmark local cemetery, www,green-wood.com, we have buried there William S. Hart. I will assume you know who he is as you're familiar with the Silents.
One of my favorite Silent films is "The Crowd", and "The Big Parade". Classics.
I also saw the great presentation at a crowded Radio city Music Hall of Abel Gance's "Napoleon" - one of the great epics of the Silent period. It was a magnificent evening wit the orchestra, and 6,000 cheering the reconstructed film. An elderly Gance, in Paris, heard on the telephone the cheers as it ended.
Oh yes, "Intolerance" is another Silent favorite of mine. I surely am forgetting many. Any favorites of yours?

I love Orphans of the storm and Way down east. Both with Lilian Gish I believe, and produced by the same man that produced Intolerance. Napoleon is a beautiful movie, and Intolerance is believed to be (one of) the best Silents there is. The Alster case is also one of my favorites

Griffith - a great movie director who also made one of the most vile lying racist pieces of insidious propaganda ever put on film - "Birth of a Nation". It was a tribute to the Ku Klux Klan. Some years ago I saw a multi-part BBC series on the Silent Era. Many GREAT movies were made in those days. The original Ben-Hur, and Wings, come to mind. Buster Keaton was so good as a comedian. Check this out on Griffith: www.amps.net/newsletters/issue28/28_silent_movies.htm
