When rabbits get older can they shed their fur? Do patches fall off? The only reason I'm asking is because Lil Pete, a rabbit at Paws Farm--sorry I don't know how old he is, has lost all his fur on his right hind leg. I can actually see his skin and it looks rather weird to see all his fur off and then fur on his foot.
Does this come with age?

I believe so, yes. It has happened a bit with Poppy. Just be sure it is not normal shedding time. Of course it happens sometimes with older hamsters. But check the skin to see if it seems normal and there is no disease/mites apparent. Poppy looks perfect (the skin). And no extra scratching either. Lil Pete's case seems a bit extreme being so localized and so much falling off. Look close at his condition.

hhmm... thinning yes, I don't expect to see whole bald spots though. However some rabbits actually shed that way, loosing chunks at a time and showing skin. Rabbits not only have different personalities, but shedding styles too LOL. My Ani is the messiest shedder ever.
I would definetly take a close look at the skin and area, looking are any redness, scaling or dry areas.

Okay thanks, I'll take a look at Lil Pete if I'm the one to do him on Thursday. I may skip Friday if it rains, if not I'll check him then.

Maybe he will be bald by then.
(Hope not).

No, he's been like this for quite some time. I only asked now cause I found it weird.
