I had him for four years--an amazing thing.
What's interesting is that Fuzz was the hamster I thought I took care of best in terms of diet, lifestyle, etc. Critter lived on nothing but sunflower seeds and fresh food. In spite of this, she was NOT fat! Pinky fell a couple of times from heights--never expected him to go over an edge after years of watching him not do it, but twice he did. And he was fine.

How far was the fall?

One was 2.5-3 feet, one was 4.5 feet. Both were onto a wood floor. The shorter one was cushioned by a towel--he worked the towel he was sleeping in off of the counter. The other shocked me. There he was, running around the floor of the living room. I had had no idea that he fell. But he was fine and lived at least another year (don't remember when this happened). I squirm when I think of this. . . . let's change the subject.

You can talk about the bloodiest bites you had? I posted photos of mine from years ago with Zeb. It really spouted like a geyser! Didn't hurt much; just deep. Those gerbil bites hurt as they clamped down. But bites are very rare. And usually my fault, but not with that gerb, Chrissie. A sweetie I played with many times. One day she sunk her teeth in and did it again hours later. She and Crystal, and their siblings, Tommy, Dill, Phil, and Cliffy, were my first gerbs. I got them from a breeder and brought them home on a train (Long Island railroad). I was fascinated by them. Photos all in the Memorial gallery in my sig, of course. all lived long lives dying naturally except Phil who was mortally wounded in a terrible fight with Dill (who was mangled) as they fought for dominance after Tommy passed. When they start fighting, separate at once and forever! (subject changed).
