Locutus and Hugh get a homemade mix as part of their daily meals, and it contains some seeds. They each have seed that they don't like and leave behind (they each have separate bowls). Recently they've taken to doing a do-see-do to finish off each other's seeds! Man, they're cute!

Photos? ST question. Locutus, Hugh, and if you wanted a third name of the type? (Male). Yea. I love it when I say "feedin' time!" to my rats and they all go nuts climbing to the top of the cage their noises sticking out between the bars. Sometimes two grab a biscuit or whatever and start tugging--and both got tumbling down in a heap still tugging. They all get one big bowl, although I could use a small; trough! Oh! Here is a question for you. My girls seem more picky than the guys. Crackers and lab blocks the guys gobble they iften turn their noses up at. What is your experience??

In fact, my first choice for Hugh was to call him, "One of Two" ;D However I thought maybe a numeric designation didn't show him the respect he was due I don't have any recent photos, but I did post some at some point, in the photo section, perhaps...I'd have to check. Edited: found 'em! kanez.proboards22.com/index.cgi?board=RR&action=display&thread=1643

I've only ever had males, so I can't compare. The boys like pretty much everything! I got frightened off the lab blocks when I bought them for my old rats, and one seemed to be gagging on it. Lots of frothing and wretching and me freaking out because he'd had a more severe episode once that required a trip to the overnight vet. Since we're on the topic, I bought a treat mix that includes small slices of like dried bread (imagine if a bread stick were bready and sliced about 1/4"...more dense than bread sticks though). Both Locutus and Hugh seemed to have a a moment where they were stretching their jaws wide open like they were wretching or gagging. The only think I can think of in both cases, is that they get reconstituted by the saliva and become a gummy substance in the back of the throat.

Never had anyone choke on a lab block! I buried three of them this week--see thread in Memorial section. >> The only think I can think of in both cases, is that they get reconstituted by the saliva and become a gummy substance in the back of the throat. << Curious. Do you avoid females on purpose? - - - - >> "One of Two" << As opposed to "Seven of Nine", the Jerri Ryan sexy part Borg human character (female). The sex scandal with her husband, when he wanted to have her "perform" for friends helped get Obama elected by default.

The sex scandal with her husband, when he wanted to have her "perform" for friends helped get Obama elected by default. I have no idea what that means!! No, I'm not avoiding female ratties. Just turns out the the ones I've wanted to adopt have been males. There's been several groups of females I've been tempted to adopt over the last few years since I've had rats, but I really have to be careful about how much I can afford, and how much time I can give them. I'm pretty much close to burn-out these days. Also, the cage I have had bars that I've been told are probably too widely spaced to be safe for females, which would mean buying yet another cage.

I only made reference to a mass burial of many critters, who were frozen. The ratties were in that batch. More details as I get to them. I need to update my memorial gallery in my sig. Ryan's husband was running for Senate and then was brought down in a sex scandal when it was revealed he wanted he to have sex with others in front of him, etc. I have also had to be careful which cage I put the females in owing to bar spacing.
