I've been wanting to get Bella a Ferret Nation- it's the Cadillac of ferret cages- easy to clean, the 2 level one (the 142) can house up to 6 ferrets, roomy, it's perfect. But not price wise. I was iffy about paying $200 for a Ferret Nation- the one level was barely bigger than her current one so I didn't want to bother with that. Mom told me she really wanted me to get it and offered to pay $100!! I felt bad and told her I wouldn't let her pay more than $50 on it- so I just ordered Bells the cage!! ;D Here's what I got her- it's exactly the same height as me! (Well- only like 2 inches shorter than me. ) www.ferret.com/item/ferret-nation-habitat-model-142/

Looks great! Where do they poop? A pan, or wherever they please like GPs??

They go potty in litter pans- but some ferrets DO go where they please. Lol! ;D Ferrets can only be about 80% litter trained- if you're lucky 90%.

Does that mean 80% of ferrets can be trained, or that each ferret finds the pan only 80% of the time??

Wow that cage looks so cool; I hope Bella enjoys it when it comes in! The ferret we have at Paws, goes in only two places to poop. I've seen litter boxes for ferrets at PetsMart, would that work for Bella?

She already has two litter boxes- as long as they can get in and out and the box has litter in they'll use it as a box. People even use plastic bins.

Actually it was not as high as 80%! Do ferrets go in the cage on their own or do you have to put them in??

<<Do ferrets go in the cage on their own or do you have to put them in??>> Some do when they're tired, but Bella doesn't get tired! ;D Whenever I put her in her cage when she's not ready she throws a fit! Lol! And whenever I open the door- even when I'm not planning to let her out- she just crawls out to come play!

Have I posted pictures of the cage? It appears I have forgotten. I posted the photo! See above post! - - - - I just did a VERY easy rat intro (see Rat thread). Are ferrets social or solitary?? If the former, can they be introduced? I have no idea.

Ferret's relatives- the polecat- are solitary, so ferrets are okay alone, although they enjoy the company of another ferret. I've heard more than two ferrets and they're just tolerating each other. And, it's *usually* pretty easy to introduce them. Us ferret owners have a saying, "No blood, no poop, no problem," meaning that if there is no blood or scared poops, then you're good to go. Some ferrets don't warm up that easily to others, though. Sometimes it can take months!!

Sounds good! Any photos around of two ferrets interacting? I heard ferrets smell like "popcorn"?? Do they smell? I once handled one in a pet store--they were not selling them; the owner just happened to come in with the ferret. Very supply. Like a Slinky with no spine! He mouthed my finger but there was no biting. (I smelled nothing).
