He has just seemed too lethargic of late. I checked for mites; found a few and he got the spray - that wetting cooled him off and that may have made him more lethargic. I put him in a new cleaned Crittertrail Classic; he is not a large Syrian for it will fit. He just sleeps a lot. Does not respond to the smell of new mix. Not frisky. Age? We shall see. He has a new clean place now and my continuous attention. We all do what we can. I am not sure of his age. Wow. I just checked. See this thread: kanez.proboards22.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=Ham&thread=196&page=1I rescued him at the start of November of 2006! Image moved to the Memorial gallery in my sig.
He surely now is about two. Sadly, his life may be coming to an end. Should I left this abandoned hammie as I would feel bad now? I'd feel worse if I had. We shall see. . . Time flies.

That's what Chewie did, he just slept for a week before going. No eating, but I hope Butterscotch pulls through.

That's what Chewie did, he just slept for a week before going. No eating, but I hope Butterscotch pulls through. Very late yesterday, just before I went to bed, I caught him up and eating. Maybe he is just a geriatric hamster, slow and sleepy, but not in any imminent danger. We shall see. His eyes did not look sunken (a dehydration sign). I will check again soon.

And they can be slow and sleepy for a long time, as Critter and Pinky demonstrated. But they were at their most mellow in their geriatric periods, and I think I grew to love them even more then than before.

Nice. No change today. He has not eaten, but he never eats in daylight.

Butterscotch died today. Just stopped moving and breathing, and went still. See the thread link above for when I first rescued him. I will mention this in the Memorial forum.
