I realized I have TONS of photos of the cats and the dog and very few of the rats. Now that I have the camera operating, it's time to play "catch up." Hugh Locutus and Hugh Hugh Hugh and Locutus

First of all, I was cleaning house, rearranging, etc., blecch. Saw two ST cassettes, one from ST/NG and one from ST/DS9:"Reunion" and "Duet" - I liked these so much I bought the VHS. Do you recall them? Just wondering. I think the rats are adorable. Interesting some of us want to pick them up and kiss them and oter people seem repelled by them. Ignorance and prejudice, no doubt. They have such a nice cage. You make those hammocks? How, if so? Here is a rat question for you. I have just two girls left in a tall multi-level purple cage. Lovely cage. When one passes I assume I will have no choice but to let the other live alone until her time comes; when that happens , and when the cage is empty, should I split up a larger group of guys (same age as the girls) resulting in three in the cage and three left in a big rabbit cage? Or would they all be happier together as they have been since birth? Or would they be happier with more room? They get along well. You ever let H&L roam loose for a while checking things out? Hugh. In ST. Wasn't he last seen leading a revolt against the Borg collective? Knew a girl in grammar school. Her last name was "Borg". For real.

In ST. Wasn't he last seen leading a revolt against the Borg collective? Knew a girl in grammar school. Her last name was "Borg". For real. LOL Too funny. Sometimes I wonder if writers choose these names from people they know IRL...to make a point I have a big corral thing I made by duct taping several pieces of sign-board (corrugated plastic) end to end. I don't have a fully roaming-safe room and cats on the other side of the door, so... However, it's big enough for me to get in there with them, too. I load it up with toys and stuff. I have to keep an eye on them though, because my old rat, Chopin, would try to leap out of it. Not sure of the exact height (30"?) but he made a valiant attempt! About reactions to rats...my neighbour keeps saying "oh, rats are just the kind of pet my husband would LOVE to get!" and I know it's probably because he thinks they are kind of freaky. I'm always gushing about how cute they are....nobody knows!! IMO, if your boys all get along, I'd keep them together. I *suspect* social situations are more important to rats than living space. If they were overly-cramped and fighting on account of it, that might be different. Could they all move to the future empty cage, or does that gain them any more space than they have in the rabbit cage? My cage as it is, is a bit of a shadow of it's former self, on account of Hugh not getting around so well now. I took out the 2 upper shelves (he still dragged himself up there on occasion, but it was hard work and I worried about him taking a spill - even though he couldn't drop far...unless he rolled from one shelf to another to another!). They still have the one shelf on the right (and a wheel above that), and Hugh can go up the ramp to the shelf and get in his hammock that way. He's always been the hammock boy! They have more pseudo- second level space by going on top of the hut, and they perch on the wooden ledge in the back (added during the "downsize" so Hugh can get up more easily). I left the hanging plastic litter pan which has always been used for more living/sleeping space. The hammock I got at the local rat show a couple of years ago! Thankfully my boys aren't chewers - mostly. That was a pocket hammock and they chewed just one side of it over time so I just snipped it off. I think they are fairly easy to make...I could add my instructions from what I see in examining its structure, if you like. The boys say "Thanks" for the compliment! I must say, every time I see that first pic of Hugh, I wanna kiss the monitor!!! LOL He's just a doll!

I can't remember that girl's first name (last name Borg) and that is vexing! I can still see her, though. I see. . . a corral! My cats when I put them together, closely supervised, just seem perplexed. same with the GPs. I thought of GP gates for your corral, but the rats can climb so that might not be good. Cute. When they stick their noses up through the bars for some food! I will admit to giving them somethimes a long hunk of something to eat so that at last two grab it with their teeth. Squealing and tugging, and often spinning, ensues as they each try to seize it for themselves. Funny stuff. Usually it breaks and one gets 90% of it. Then I give the others more. Very entertaining. >> *suspect* social situations are more important to rats than living space. << That is what I suspected. They should get along having never been separated since conception. I suppose I mentioned more for the fact that it is multi-level and more interesting than the big old rabbit cage. >> every time I see that first pic of Hugh, I wanna kiss the monitor!! << Yea. Kiss them one for me. As I will mine. ST episodes. I guess you forget those. "Duet": Major Kira had an hour long discussion with an accused Cardassian war criminal, but there was more to it, much more. He was played by a great actor, Harris Yulin. Wow. I just looked this up on IMDB! Check this out: >> User Comments The best episode in the show's seven-year run, 3 June 2006 10/10 Author: Reginald D. Garrard from Camilla, GA As the title implies, "Duet" is basically a two-character study featuring cast member Nana Visitor (Major Kira Nerys) going head to head to guest Haris Yulin, playing a suspected war criminal, responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Bajorans in an internment camp. As the two engage in a "war of words," the show, like good science fiction, has strong commentary on the intricacies of war and the roles that are played by both sides of the antagonistic "coin." Visitor is fantastic as her character struggles with her determination to see justice but most toy with doubts about the man's guilt. Yulin volleys back and forth as "suspect" or possible "innocent". << I agree. Best DS9 ever. See it if you have not. us.imdb.com/title/tt0708529/"Reunion". us.imdb.com/title/tt0708766/Fun episode. Dramatic, too.

I forgot to address the eps..
I had looked up the story for Reunion prior to seeing your link. I know the title (and I don't for most of any of the series after the Original!) so it must have stuck with me. The particular summary I read (and the IMDB) didn't ring a bell.
I DO remember that DS9 episode. Not in detail, but I do remember the story (I wonder why DS9 gets aired less than the other incarnations...here anyway).

In recommend both episodes highly, even to rent or buy (as I did). Remember the episode where Worf's son risked his life rescuing a very exotic rare pet? Nice. us.imdb.com/title/tt0708750/ I just wish someone could remember the name of that critter.
