From another forum: Show Girl is having this tumor removed, after a second opinion determined that there is a good chance of success. charmec.pixnet.net/album/photo/104990034#pictopThe first vet recommended against surgery, and as Show Girl was doing well otherwise the watch-and-wait strategy was used. But the thing kept growing and growing. It's not a cyst--aspiration was unsuccessful.

Yeow! Best wishes. I guess operations are out for Mal. Is that Japanese?? Ha! On the home page I see a photo gallery of the Macy's parade! Some opera, also. Niagara Falls! Macy's Santa! Saks! St Gennaro festival! Interesting stuff; where you find it? The Niagara Falls shots are really good.

CharmeC is a poster on that other forum. She has been chronicling her hamster's troubles over the last few months. Don't know anything about her personally, other than that she's a great hamster mommy.

I wish her critter well. I have never seen anything like that on a dwarf, and I have had dozens.

Oh my gosh that looks like it hurts, poor Show Girl. I wonder if the owner will go through with surgery, I think I would if the tumor was that big. Poor hamster.

Surgery is scheduled, yes. That's why fingers are crossed for Show Girl!

Show Girl's tumor was removed successfully. However, the vet noted that a tumor may be forming on her rear leg. Neverthelesss, she is home recuperating and is behaving normally. What a resilient little critter!

Update: not good. >>Ever since we stopped the Metacam 5 days after Show Girl's surgery, her condition regressed. She was bleeding through her anus again, and lost appetite, and she has problems moving her left leg. We took her back to the clinic this afternoon and the doctor found that the tumor is growing again and seems to be spreading in other parts of her body as well. The stitches are healing well but the growing tumor may be stretching them and causing Show Girl pain. The doctor said all we can do now is try to increase her comfort level, resuming the Metacam to relieve the pain, she probably will be gone in a few days................. The only thing she will eat now is sunflower seeds, she won't even eat baby food anymore. I can't stop crying << 16 days ago Mal and I were in this same place. . . so I REALLY feel for CharmeC.
