Dusty had a mass removed from his scent gland today -- he is one of my twin older dark-eyed honey males. The operation went well and he is back on his feet again -- the whole thing cost me $49.
I was surprised to find a good vet within walking distance of my house -- most vets round here focus either on cats/dogs or on larger, more profitable farm animals.
Dusty and Sandy have been up and around since coming home but they have just flopped down to sleep a while -- I guess this morning was quite an adventure for them.

That's great news, and you got such a fantastic price on it too! I bet you're relieved.

I couldn't even SEE a vet for $49. Glad it went well.

It was a very good visit.
They are still well -- I half expected a gotcha -- to come home and find out there had been some sort of awful mishap while I was away. I am not accustomed to good fortune, except as I make it myself.

Glad to hear it went well - I figured it would.
I do think you have good fortune with regard to your pets' health, and this is coming from somebody who doesn't...
I hope they stay in great health! I'm glad it was such a minor operation.

What good fortune I have, is on loan from a higher power, or made with hard work. I leave little to luck these days -- I'm just used to having such bad luck that the recovery has been a great joy for me.

I refuse to allow any possibility of mass loss here. Frequent health checks and emergency preparedness, as well as a clear head, keep everyone operating safely.
I am sometimes a fool -- but I choose only to risk my own life. ;D

I was thinking more in terms of a comet striking Frankfort, or some other bizarre natural catastrophe such as depicted in the wacky new movie: part of a glacier or something falls into the sea causing a giant tidal wave that wipes out New York?!

Why is New York always the victim of these things? Why don't they ever take out Kalamazoo? ;D

If a comet would strike Frankfort, most of Kentucky would not know, the rest might throw a big party. Certainly we all would have a much simpler tax code when state government was restored. In the meantime, I'd go re-learn fishing.

I thought you'd be impressed I knew Frankfort was the capital! Most people think it is Lexington, or maybe Louisville.
