Wili has moved on to the Great Backyard in the Sky

Hello all,

Just to let you know, my DARLING cat, "Wili", passed away Tuesday morning. I'm utterly heart-broken. I notice my last post here was Dec 27. A few days later I had him in for (yet another) check-up and while in the vet's waiting room, he had a SEIZURE! I thought it was game-over right then, but he came out of it quickly, and was his old self within a very short while. He started going downhill on the weekend and on Tues morning was very out of it. It all ended when he had another seizure and died before I could get him to the vet for euthanization.

I've been a total wreck and in a state of disbelief.

I've had many pets, and this was a character like none other. "To know him was to love him". He was a real "people person" and oozed personality. When I feel up to it, I'll write up a little stuff that made him so unique.

He was the bright light in this home for 14 years, and was very good to me. I'm so thankful that our paths crossed.

May he forever play in the great backyard in the sky...

Very very sorry.

We understand. I have pets here who if they passed I would be distraught. And that includes cats, cats so affectionate they demand literal hugs and kisses. They rub their faces all over mine. They are very dear, as are all of my critters.

So *hugs*.

Maybe I can think of something better to say later.

BTW, you may know Robin lost a very dear pet recently, Mallory. And my rats have been dying one after another - the rescued siblings, all old. I knew this would happen when I kept the litters. More on that another time.

Thanks for sharing. It's been a rough month or so, with DF's ratties slipping away and my Mal's sad end.

Thank you everyone for your kind replies! It's been a really tough week - this one has hit me especially hard.

The following is from an email I had sent of a weird coincidence...although I guess ALL coincidences are kinda weird...



As you know, my sweet kitty, Wili passed away last week. For his records, I wanted the vet to know that his full name was "Wiliwili" - my brother named the 3 littermates (he originally adopted them) after Hawaiian words he stumbled across and which appealed to him when we were on holiday there many years ago. Fourteen years, in fact. He said, "those would make great names for kittens," and sure enough, he had the kittens not long after arriving back home!

Although he saw "Wiliwili" on a street sign, I figured there must be more to the word so did a web search last week, and sure enough it's a type of native flowering tree, now endangered.

Anyway, today I thought I'd look up the actual tree/flowers to see what they look like. In my search I came across a Hawaiian proverb, "when the Wiliwili blooms, the shark bites."

Just now I was going through a couple of photos on my camera to upload them, and forgot I took a few last week of an amazing looking cloud - to me it looked just like a shark. I hope it comes across in this particular photo.

I thought that coincidence was strange enough!... but then I just had to check the photo info -- sure enough, I took that photo the later in the day that Wili died.

Things that make me go, "hmmmm...."

Thank you so much! Yes, that's Wili many years ago, out back. When I look at that photo I think of him out there, late in the afternoon on a warm, summer day, listening to the birds and the buzzing insects....then I KNOW he had an amazing and happy life.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mallory. My thoughts are with you, too.

It does look like a shark. Curious indeed. There is so much we do not understand but that is real.

That is so sad and difficult to experience. I really feel for you.

Wili was part of a litter of 3 kittens my brother adopted. One died very young of a congenital heart problem. His remaining sister is VERY robust and I imagine she has several years in her yet! However, it has been a concern, they being the same age. Also, the dog is getting up there in age for her breed, and rat-boy Locutus likewise is robust, but an old rat.

It's hard to have a home full of elderly pets
