I am off to the Dog Show at Madison Square Garden! I will be gone all day Monday and Tuesday, and by that I mean I will be there from before 9 AM to 11 PM or later. The benching and grooming areas are super cool. I will bring my binoculars for the evening show. See ya!! www.westminsterkennelclub.org/2009/show/info.htmlwww.thepoop.com/westminster/NOTE: >> Citing the BBC's decision to drop its coverage of the Crufts dog show, and the British Kennel Club's revisions of the standards for many of the breeds it recognizes (including the bulldog, German shepherd, chow chow, and Labrador retriever), PETA wrote to Westminster sponsor Pedigree Dog Food. The letter read, in part: The new BKC standards allow dogs to breathe, walk, and see freely, which previous breeding standards prevented. Unfortunately, the AKC has refused to take even the smallest step to allow American dogs these same basic freedoms. The BKC even has additional regulations requiring dog-show judges to choose the healthiest dogs as winners. << Hmmm. Interesting point. I will ask about the BKC's standards when I am there. Have fun at the dog show! And I wouldn't listen to PETA too much, they're a joke.

According to you. Did you READ the links?? The British Kennel Club basically agrees with them having changed their breed standards. Read the last link.

According to you. ^No. I've heard people on the radio say they are too much and people I talk to say the same.
Don't get me wrong, it's great they want to help out animals, but they're too crazy in their ways.

I am not a reader of the Huffington Post. If PETA takes extreme positions it is for a purpose: to get media attention, and to hope for some minor progress by asking for major changes. "If one asks for little one gets nothing; ask for a lot and you might get something". They are not stupid, and well know this. None of that obviates the fact of ad hominem personal attacks on PETA being wholly IRRELEVANT to the issue at hand. NOTE: the issues of breeding standards and the British Kennel Club is a major one and the subject of many discussions at had at length over the past two days including with the AKC President, many dog club members, and professionals. More on that important issue in a separate thread soon.

I will post this again: >> None of that obviates the fact of ad hominem personal attacks on PETA being wholly IRRELEVANT to the issue at hand. << PETA was not and is not the issue here. THIS IS: www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article5512620.eceAnd that issue is what the British Kennel Club did, as I have posted. Necessary or unnecessary? As I said, I had lengthy talks about that at the Dog Show. (see my post in Members Only). I will do a thread on the Dog Show itself separately from another on my personal reactions and experiences there. Later. Way too tired now.
