With some reluctance, I relate here the adoption last week. I hesitate to post on my critters these days, but we shall see. . . I was at a local pet store where I am well known, and it came up that someone the week before abandoned a dwarf there, scruffy and underfed. They had the dwarf in a basement tank at the store. Obviously, I have the dwarf now, and last night I sexed her, and her name is now Adele. I also got a slight nip - there is more skin and fur than I recalled having not had a dwarf in almost three years! She is looking much better, and is actually rather tame, except when scruffed; she also gets very noisy squawking, mad as hell. But I can pick her right up, just no scruffing!

She's cute, just let her get used to the place and I'm sure she'll stop the nipping. Or maybe she's cage aggressive like Jayde is, but once out is a sweetie pie.
How do you pronounce her name by the way? The way I'm saying it comes from a character in the movie Guys and Dolls.

"uh DELL".
Not "uh DELL eee".
She may never be scruffed again except for potential health issues.
I'd hate being scruffed!
If a male I would not have named him "Nathan Detroit"!

Love your dwarfie girl--she's pretty. Is she a uniform gray? The third photo makes her look brown and gray. This? www.geocities.com/aaahamsters/GrayGene.htmlLove the name too. Perfect for her. Mal was cranky when all four paws were not on a surface, and scruffing was the worst. How often must it be done, truly? Not often--a peek at teeth once in a while, perhaps. But if I wanted to look at Jayde's teeth every day, I could. Ms. Cage Aggressive has no problem with being scruffed.

She seems to be all gray to me. I am too tired to get up and look: she is eight feet away asleep in a corner of the tank. She seems to have little interest in the small wooden house. But the cardboard rolls are great to pee in. I replace them regularly. I guess it saves the bedding. I will look again later. Always funny to see those little back legs going like crazy. "Gray Genes". Sounds like a character from Captain Kangaroo. Anybody get that? Odd the stream of consciousness. . . "Opal"? Never heard of it. If Adele has any visible brown I will mention it; if not, that is that.

You are a cult of one - to quote Johnny Carson and date myself further!
She IS all gray.
The green thing in the background I got from Katie, btw.

She is a cutie. I was thinking of getting a pair of dwarfs for my next hamster after Fred.
