I will probably get more gerbils after mine go, my son asked me today if we will always have gerbils, I said probably up until I can't take care of them, but even when I can't I guess I could find someone to clean thier cages really I can't see myself with out them now.

Ya I don't want to keep this many forever, actually ever LOL... That's what I said a few years ago. But I still have as many owing to rescues, and abandoned gerbs and tanks in pet stores that are offered to me. (I could refuse??).

I don't think I will keep 17 like Ihave now, two at least. I have so many now because I was uneducated about gerbils, I would take nothing for the ones I have now because I love them so much, but it does become over whelming at times, I want to give everyone attention and can't always do it. The ones in my room which number 7 are my favorites well they get attention all the time, they get out 2and 3 times aday. I tell my son to bring the others in so they can too but it is hard to give to what I give the others, it's so sad. Giacomo has been getting alot of attention because of his little nose, I was so worried about him, it has been a month now and he is all better he is so cute, He and his brother who he is with was in here too , but I had to take them out four gerbils to a little cage would have been a problem down the road I think the babies are 3 months now getting so big, I miss having little pups but I know I can't right now, Maybe next year I can get some more:) I'm rambling lol bye for now.

I'd liek tor educe my numbers (but obviously let it happen naturally). But when (if) we get a house I'd like a large or a garage converted to a rodentary and set up a number if lines of gerbils and gerbil species. My biggest problem is, of course, space in the flat.

Knew a mouse guy who had tanks in frames all up against the walls from floor to seven feet high.
BTW, the pied black and white gerbs have been the most calm in my experience, especially my favorite, Sam.

I want to eventually keep 2 tanks, of either 4 or 6 gerbils. I want to be able to give them all more one-on-one attention, plus I'm thinking of 'kids' down the road, and it would not be fare to bring in a new baby when I have so many pets. I love sitting in my gerbil room, watching and playing with all the critters it's so relaxing and enjoyable.

>> it's so relaxing and enjoyable. << I feel the same way about my gerbs, and all my critters. I enjoyed yesterday feeding the fancy mice (16 females) and watching them run around trying to hide their pieces of food or having tugs of war over it. If not for my critters I would be a head case!

Yeah thats my plan too, I want to be able to give each and everyone the love and attention I give the ones in my room. my others are not neglected from a long shot it is just I am in my room most of the time, and I have the others brought into to me. It doesn't seem fair to the others

In my case I cannot give all of them the attention I would like; however, the ones I have, most of them, are rescues, so at least they are here safe and well fed.

yes that is the important thing they have a good home now I do my best with the attention but all of mine are taken good care of, I don't think they feel mistreated.
