Jaydee Girl is bleeding out. She sits beside me, just sitting, in the middle of her bin, breathing hard with eyes closed. I was surprised that she made it through the night, actually. I got back late from being away and the blood was here and there, and it got all over me when I picked her up. So the vet is open now--I need to make the call. . . Very sad, but I knew it was coming--sometime. **I made the call. We're going in a little over an hour. Same vet as with Mal--he's wonderful, so. . . I'll be ok, but this will be hard. At least I know what to expect.

Her spirit is free. She's in the purple pumpkin, as all my hamsters have been when/right after they've left this world. She was one of 1000 or so animals rescued from a horrible kennel in Emmaus, PA. She came to me via Mal's rescue mommy Stacey. She was "Buddha Hamster" when she arrived--so chubby--but she slimmed down nicely. What made her special was that she responded to her name and climbed the walls of the tank when she saw I was around. Of course, she'd tear my hand off if I responded to her begging and tried to pick her up out of the tank! She was a sweetie to hold and play with, though. And I loved the way she would roll in the corners of her play bin to stake her claim to the territory. Her only real vice was how she chewed the Silent Spinner stand. At those times I called her "Neurotica." I also called her "Lady Chatterlee" when she'd make her soft chattering sounds. I think she was my most beautiful hamster, a silvering dove, so unique. I often sang "Beautiful Jaydee" to her while holding her, adapting the words to "Beautiful Dreamer," and I sang to her in the vet's office before our time came. When my landlady comes back from FL at the end of the month together we'll lay Jaydee to rest beside Pinky, Mal, and Fuzz. Rest peacefully, Beautiful Jaydee. Mommy loves you. Very very sorry. You know how I feel, and you know I am tearing up. I have said it all before. You know we totally empathize and understand. I have a photo of Poppy in my sig. I can't even put a photo up of Princess (Syrian) and Leslie (GP), long gone both, as it would be too distressing for me. *many hugs* I assume you want a separate thread in the Memorial section. Or we can move this one.

Thanks, all. I am ok, just prone to tears now and then. I think I'm kind of in shock--driving home at 10 pm Friday as a hamster owner and driving back from the vet at 10 am Saturday having lost her. My boyfriend is here now but I think when I am alone it will hit me and I will lose it more.

Oh Robin, I am so so sorry about Jayde. I know how much you loved her and you could just tell she was loved by the way you talked and how she would react around you. She had a great owner in you and lived like a little princess. May cute Jayde rest in peace. *hugs*
