Well tonight I picked up 5 seven week old gerbils, known by their previous owner as snake food We have 4 girls and 1 boy So i'm going to have to figure something out to get him a buddy within the next few days. There are 2 agoutis (1 is the boy), 2 blacks and a Lilac who's the runt. We've had a few calls for gerbils lately so i'm hoping these little one will be adopted sooner then later. It's nice to have babies back in my home, it's been a while. I may end up keeping the boy and split caging him with one of my loner boys, this way both have a buddy, but we'll see how thigns work out. I'll try and get pictures soon.

Best wishes to them. Right now I am watching my three white juvie girls and Polly the dove spot frolic in their 20L. The birds behind me are all asleep and quiet. But the agouti mice to the right near the window are running in their wheels. Kind of a placid time.

They are all snuggled up and sleeping in a pop tart box too cute. I'm ticked off though the owner first said she was given two females then surprise babies.... well after she changes her story a bit... she burried the first litter in the back yard, and since then she has been giving them to her friend to feed his snake. When asked if we can take the mother & three week litter she said no b/c the mother is her daughters pet, but she will call in 2 weeks when the pups are ready to be weaned. She may keep a couple of these pups as the mother "isn't looking so good". ARGH, know one would look so good if she's poping out babies over and over again with no break inbetween. The woman will not remove the male.... I love my pets, not so much people.

Well we started with hand taming tonight, and it's much slower then with any other young gerbils I've worked with, these guys are very skittish. The Lilac is SO curious! she's always first for everything, I think I'm going to name her Lilly and then name the rest all after flowers also. The Agouti female is next in being curious, but nothing close to outgoing like little "Lilly". I have a 10g tank that's goign to be available, but i have to bond a pair of boys and then i may split cage this young agouti with Dakota one of my loner pied agouti males. My new split cage with Jimmy & Peej is going over pretty good so far, so pelase keep your fingers crossed for me!

Consider them crossed.
How did you make your split screens?

Consider them crossed. How did you make your split screens? Thanks As for the splits. Well I'm borrowing a hamster cage my friend has made into a split. My two large taks that are split i've had my hunny weld dividers together for me, both removable. I also use a 20G tall (or a bin cage) with a hamster cage top in it, these are the easiest b/c there no real building involved. This is my 50G split. Right now it's not split b/c I house the female Degus in it. This is a 20G with a hamster cage in it. And this is my 45G split. Being able to weld things together is so much easier then useing wood or glue or twist ties LOL... edited as you put the last image link in quote brackets! - DF.

>> I've had my hunny weld dividers << I better find me a hunny who can weld, as I sure can't! So that won't help me, but interesting pictures. I assume the gerbs can't bite between the hamster cage bars?

The hamster cage one i have to say is the most dangerous, i have had 2 gerbils loose tails in that divider. So I try not to use it first off. Well if u lived closer i could rent you my hunny and his welder LOL... I've been meaning to learn to weld for quite some time now, but haven't gotten around to it, One of these days. I would love to learn to weld aluminum, that would be so cool, i'd make all sorts of fun artsy fartsy stuff ;D
