A while ago in February I posted of how I was split screening two pairs of gerbils whose tankmates had died. I described the way I made the screens (or had them made at an Art Supply store) and used heavier gauge mesh to prevent gnaw through. Everything worked perfectly. The screens were pulled three hours ago, and they are getting along great. Stewie (white) lost Pinky. Mitzie (black) lost Erica. Enjo (deformed agouti) lost Hermione (a rescue) and Jasper (agouti) lost Cole. Enjo is now in with Mitzie. Enjo has a clearly visibly spalyed out back leg, and a locked forepaw. I rescue her from a pet store that was about to kill her; "enjo" means "precious" in Japanese. Stewie is with Japser. I have watched them now for four hours and they are doing just great! I now have two more gerbs to split screen. Just two, not two pair. Take an hour ago: P.S. Warning: never use scent masking! When it wears off they may fight.

That is awesome! Congratulations!
Malibu & Solara had a small de-clan, I had them seperated a few days and now have them in a split cage. We'll see how things go.

Thanks. I saw them sleeping together this morning. I do not know if de-clans can be saved. I would never try. See the other new thread in this forum about the mesh. Heavier mesh IS needed to split screens!

What do you mean by a locked forepaw? Nice pictures too, the first one looks like the one gerbil is checking out the other gerbil.

And those are the two I saw sleeping together this morning.
Take your hand and bring it back as much as possible at the wrist. Then imagine your wrist "locks" and you can't move the wrist again. Locked. There are Enjo photos up on this forum which should be easy to find if you forgot them. You will remember when hamwolf gave her that name. I have no time no to search for those photos. Maybe later.
Enjo basically can't run on her paw bottom, but has to manage moving on the wrist itself. And you can see the splayed out back leg.
See the other thread in this forum on proper gerbil split screening mesh.
