When we acquire new hamsters they are seldom seniors, and we take lots of photos of them because they are agile and active. As they get older they often become less photogenic, or we get a younger hamster, or whatever. . . . anyway, this thread is to honor Frasier, since he is a senior and since his health is declining. From my experience with my four seniors I have found that hams become more mellow with age. Cage aggression and nipping becomes less or disappear, and critters seem more receptive to human companionship and handling. Here are some Frasier shots. He is now 26 months, with a kidney that is 3x the size of the other, but he is hanging in there. This is his bed-head shot--I love the white "bangs"! What is he doing here? Well, that's his potty. . . . since he produces a lot of urine I rinse it out twice a day, and what he will do is go in there and lick the residual water from it. . . . I laugh every time I see it, but it's a pretty unsanitary habit! I discovered years ago that hams will play with spaghetti like cats play with string!
