Seen in a Manhattan park. A starling?

Yup. People hate them but I like to watch them and listen to their strange vocalizations. They are not federally protected, so if you happened upon an injured one you could care for it and even make it a pet without breaking the law.

I will if I do! With the Lovebird and Quaker together I have an empty cage.
Why do people hate them?
Someone was feeding them from his hand in Riverside Park in Manhattan.
BTW, there is an all white pigeon who lives with her flock a block away. Very pretty.
See the egret photos below this thread? I needed a 30xlens for that! VERY skittish.
BTW, all my birds, tiel, Quaker, Lovebird, and finches, have bands. Which is good. I also have a certificate for the Quaker - hatched in the U.S.!

They're noisy, they flock, and they make a mess. They're NOT skittish and so they annoy people.

One as a pet will make a huge poop mess? But skittish they were not. be good for Hitchcock's The Birds, which I am sure you enjoyed.
Am about to watch on TCM "Waterloo Bridge" - an all time Romantic classic. Worth seeing if you can.
