...that in spite of what you and I think, not all people are stupid ;D
I sent this to a list (not sure if I posted it here) as part of a post about Hugh and his abscess (which is healed now -- YAY!)
"I had Hugh at the vet for his abscess yesterday
and when the tech was handling him, she said,
"you know buddy, you really make me want to get a
rat!!" "
So, being the proud mama, I had to share that ;D
Someone posted this in reply:
"I had a similar experience to that, Linda, with my Noah who has since
passed.
I was in the waiting room and chatting with Noah through my pet
carrier (I talk to my animals continuously), when the older lady next
to me who was there with her bird asked me what was in the carrier.
I chatted with her for about 20 minutes, and brought Noah out for her
to see, but she was a little hesitant to hold him. Noah was one of
the rats from Amy's MJ line, so needless to say he was an absolute
squisky limp little cuddle bug when I held him.
I got called in the back for my appt, and when I came out 15 minutes
later or so, she told me she'd changed her mind and she wanted to hold
him. She said her daughter was interested in getting a hamster, so I
gave her my speech about how rats are better pets for children than
hamsters, and gave her my email address if she ran into any questions.
She emailed the next day saying she and her daughter had decided to
adopt a pair of rats off of Craigslist, and she still emails me to
this day (about 6 months later) asking me questions about diet and
housing and telling me about future adoptions (her daughter has the 2
original female rats they adopted and then the mom got 3 of her own).
It's great when our furry children teach the world about the wonders
of rats as family members!"
So, from her little exchange, 5 ratties have found a good home!!
