Do me a favor. Put in the thread title, please, that you have photos - lest I open the post with the trepidation of beholding a death/injury notice. That is what you call "bedding" on the floor?? I have more dandruff than that! (Just kidding. I don't have dandruff). Bedding. I have so much. It sticks to my socks so I leave a trail of aspen in the gym locker room! I wonder if they know what it is. . . ;D So that's the glove you use - looks like finely woven chain mail. I've read those big European hamsters can bite right through steel mesh. Very interesting with her increasing lovely coat. The color reminds me I someday should get siamese gerbils. I assume her entire coat will whiten, and not just the back? (How old is Phoebe?). It may be my imagination, but there seem to be more white fur in the coats of my spotteds and black gerbs. Perhaps it is slightly whitening, with age (?). If there is one thing that strikes me now about my critters is their different personalities. I figured they'd be like clones, personality-wise. Hardly. They are all different; I think Theodora is my "favorite" ham (If I had to choose), and Sam my favorite gerb, with Tommy and girls a close second. Best to Phoebe. P.S. I will use the Relaxing Rodents forum here only when I have a long series of photos. Maybe in February.

Sorry to scare you, DF. You can also see that she has a permanently damaged eye from her attacks at the pet store. Interesting to note that Phoenix's eye problem is on the same eye - I think he must be an empath. He really is in love her, and would do anything to take away her suffering. I goofed - I usually handle Phoebe with a pink glove. Oh, well. I don't think Phoenix's condition is contagious. The vet thinks it's the side effect of having soemthing seriously wrong inside, but he just keeps going and going and going.

That happened too many times at PMS: I'd open an inoccuously titled thread. . . and inside would be some horrific story some of which made me ill. (That was another issue I had with LH - a separate forum each for Care and Memorials). Poor Phoenix. Too bad everyone on this forum can't take away some of his distress empathically. Use the pink glove next photo. I never use gloves for Chrissie; I just scoop her up in a tube and let her walk on my shoulder - one day she'll sink her teeth into my carotid artery and then she'll have to buy her own food.

She does have a wild animal on the prowl look in those photos, doesn't she?

I never thought that. Why not leave out some mealworms on the floor to help her go fully feral? Mealworms. The only time I fed my critters mealworms was months ago and it was nasty. Only a few gerbs ate them, and one was Ted - who died the next day! I don't think there was any connection as he already seemed kind of lethargic, but he ate the worms so I figured he'd be OK. (?)
