That's not so bad - he should be okay. Is he active? Was this at Petland? He sure is a cute little guy

They were a lot redder when I first saw him. Nasty-looking. This was at the local Bay Ridge PD where conditions have not been bad; you know that story. In fact, yesterday the district manager, Freedman, and Padron himself, were expected to inspect the place. I'll ask the guy I know best how it went (he was off today). Aeneas is reasonably active, but his sleep patterns may be a mess. He seems alright. Speaking of active, the speeds Snowball hits on her wheel are amazing. She is like a little electric motor in there!

Snowball was a good name for her then - she must be towards the bottom of the hill at that point. Phoebe gets like that in her wheel too. I love the shape of little dwarf bodies - so cute, they are!

Yea. Cute little tails, too. Aeneas doesn't bite either. I was so reticient to get a dwarf as I figured they start tearing pieces off my hand! Nope. I actually worried the first times I heard Snowball - I figured she had literally gone nuts and would end up having a heart attack in that wheel.

He was lucky for awhile, and spent his last days in peace in a lovely environment with plenty of food, water, and veggies. Sadly, early Sunday morning, he started becoming lethargic, and his left eye only opened partially. He eventually began "sleeping" upright - a bad sign. He slowly and quietly just faded away, and was gone early today. Aeneas will join all the others in the freezer awaiting the burial in my favorite cemetery; I will scope out a safe location and bury them very deep. Perhaps there was something wrong with him before the biting - why he was attacked by the other dwarf in the first place. Peraps the shock of the attack killed him, eventually. But he did show me that he was well treated subsequently at the pet store, and the concern and solicitude they, me, and others online has evidenced, was uplifiting and gave point to his short life. We do what we can do. On a happier note, I introduced two new gerbils to Whitey and Petey with excellent results! (see other thread).

That's too bad. He probably needed antibiotics for the infection, if he was acting sick.

Who knows. (?). He was at the pet store for a few days after the attack and I specifically asked f they put on some bacitracin ointment. "No, we don't have any; I suppose we should". To which I added, "Sheez, a tube of Eckerd generic bacitracin costs only three or four dollars!". By the time I applied some it likely did not matter and was moot. Next time I go there I will have a tube with me, and I'll GIVE it to them - to the manager, and I'll tell two of the others. I won't tell them Aeneas passed, just that he seemed ill for awhile; saying he died might cause them not to bother in the future. You know what I mean.

Your comments were personal, insulting, and unacceptable to me on several levels. To avoid getting in a flame war I have deleted them and closed the thread without further comment. Suffice it to say, details about my animals will be very few on this board in the future.
