Sasha's eye is swollen and stuck shut. it was stuck yesterday but i opened it with a little warm water and my fingers. she's not acting like she's in pain. now again today it's swollen shut. again i wiped it with a warm cotton ball and could not pry it open but she's just cleaned herself and i saw her use her little hand to open it up. so it's open but still a bit red around....
what could this be? any ideas or experiance with this?

She could have something stuck in her eye, causing sticky secretions. She could have a cold, or an allergy. She could be in a draft.
Is the eye clear and normal, or occluded or reddish?
Check the bedding; maybe change it and use a something non-allergenic. Listen to the breathing - is it normal? Keep her out of drafts. Bathe the eye using a dropper with a little warm sterile (boiled and then cooled) water with a touch of boric acid powder (no more than a teaspoon per half a cup).
I never had that problem, although upon waking a few of them have eyes that are temporarily stuck together, sometimes. But not often. Do you notice this right after she wakes up? If so, give her a chance to groom.
That's all I can think of right now. . . salubrious wishes to her.

Puck's eye is sometimes shut open waking, but never is red. You can actually use artificial tears made for humans on hammies - I have some that I use on my dwarf Phoebe (as instructed by my vet), who is missing a piece of her eyelid and is prone to eye irritation.
Maybe she has an infection. I guess if it doesn't get any better in a few days, you could get some antibiotics drops from the vet.

GO TO THE VET ASAP. MY OLD HAMSTER HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS, AND THEY KILLED HER. That could vry likely be Conjunctivitis, and you MUST go to the vet if you want your hsmster to survive that illness!
Well, my old Dwarf Sadie looked like that one morning when I woke up, and it turned out to be Conjunctivitis. Poor Sadie, she was killed by it. The vet tried to save her. =(
