I have no idea what is wrong with him. Your description of the symptoms was very brief.
Clean the cage; use new bedding; and there is nothing else I can add since your description was so brief.
>> most of his belly was moist and the color yellow <<
Why? What was the source? Did you clean and try to dry it? Were the gnats in his cage? Were they on him? Did he have open sores the gnats got into? Etcetra.
You don't describe what is going on all I can do is speculate. And posting this after midnight means you'll probably get no response for a very long time.
If you don't feel you can do right by your animals, don't get any more. Do what is right for them, not for you.
If it is any consolation I almost lost a gerbil to mites this week - see the Gerbil forum. I should have checked earlier. But at least I have the excuse of having to spend my time dealing with a vicious landlord harassing me. (I kicked his ass in court!).
I am off to bed. Best to your hamster.
BTW, mites and some other problems can hit dwarfs very fast.

sry, and its not that late here but anyway...
The gnats are not on Him just landing on everything around him. Which makes me think that the cage is very dirty but i cleaned it not to long ago. Well i have left out that its a bar cage so insects can just fly right though. Moshi seems heathy, nothing in his ears, eyes glowing.
But just under him im worried about. At first i thought since he goes on the wheel that when he hops on that his left over rubs on him. But since the "yellow"(pee) is always in the same spot i always see it something must be wrong. I dont know
I hope he is ok i changed his bedding and took the wheel out right away. Hopfully he will find another spot that is IN the bedding. So the bedding can suck it in. I use carefresh by the way. I guess carefresh isent good when you want to get rid of it. I have to get some more anyway ill see how wood chips go.
No problem, and thx DF^^

uh... I have kind of bad news... And its kind of funny because that hamsters name was Mochi. You see, I noticed that my Dalmation dwarf hamster, Smokey/Mochi, had yellow wetness (I'm sorry i don't know what word to use) all over his belly but not on his butt... he died two days later. It sounds kind of like Moshi has the same thing... I really hope he doesn't have it...

If you use wood chips...Use aspen. It's a little more expensive than cedar and pine, but way better for small animals. Cedar and pine have aromatic oils in them that can make smaller animals sick.

Sorry I couldn't help more. But soon after my post above my computer crashed owing to a virus. I described that elsewhere as you know. If you need Carefresh there are always mail orders.
