Last night I put Fuzz into his "hamster playpen" (an underbed box) and he promptly crawled into his hamster ball. So I thought, "why not?" and let him roll. . . . well, I have never seen him do so much in the ball! He was like the Energizer Bunny for about 15 minutes. Amazing.
I call him "Manic Hamster" when he gets like this--every so often he seems more full of energy than usual. Could be that it's residual energy not expended Friday night because his wheel fell over sometime during the night. (I had changed his bedding, which he hates, and while I try to mash the bedding down to make a stable surface in which to embed the wheel, he often screws things up in his effort to re-create his maze of tunnels during the night, tunnels under the wheel, and there it goes. . .)
When he seemed sick of the ball I put him back in the playpen for a while and later put him on the bed to play. Well, he was still manic! He just ran ALL over the place, climbing up onto me and then down, climbing up and wandering all over me, etc. So different than usual--where he does run, but he sits and rests as well (he stretches out like a dog--so funny!), and doesn't do so much climbing. It was fun, though--it was like he was a couple of months old again and just bursting with energy!
Does anybody else have an occasionally "manic" pet?

maybe not THAT much but yes, sometimes a dwarfie or two will go crazy can run endlessly anywhere, on me to the other side of the room in a flash. It funny when they zoom up your pants or sleeve.
fuzz is in hyper nature, and he must have alot of fun during that time. Good thing he know when to rest. lol

You know, what is really odd is that I could have sworn I answered this already. I guess it didn't go through. I don't have a whole lot of time to play with one animal as I have 160+. So it is hard for me to tell. I wish I could play with them more, but these are rescues who should consider themselves lucky to be here nonetheless. What I noticed most is that Poppy the bunny when younger hung around my feet a lot and ran around, sometimes at amazing speeds. Now, when I let him loose all he wants to do is hide, and I can't believe he is afraid of me. A strange change in behavior. He started doing that several months after I got him (when he was about 3-4 months).

It happens to us all. I opened up my work email today and there was a message from my sister saying that she would call tomorrow afternoon. I didn't notice that it was sent last night, and so I thought "tomorrow" was Tuesday. Of course she called today and I wasn't at my desk. Sigh. I haven't talked to her on the phone in weeks. Maybe tomorrow.

Ha! ;D I just realized that this "Hamsters" board is for SYRIANS. But Fuzz is not a dwarf hamster either! He has no home! He needs his own board! ;D

Dwarf are usually crazy animals. My Benny was always so fast that it was, at times, hard to keep up with her. Your Fuzz sounds the same, to me, at least. Say "Hi" to Fuzz for me!
