The pieces seem too big, mostly, for gerbils, but this costlier "premium" food seems pretty good. At least I don't have to go through the hassle of a mail order to get it. Thoughts? Anyone use it?

That seems like a good food. I like all the fruits it lists..yummy....my hamsters could use a bit more fruit i think.

This food seems to me like it has too many additives, but that's me. i'm interested in others opinions on this.

I just noticed. . . that bag I bought several days ago expired in September! Well, if I can eat a can of soup that expired two years ago (and I did just for thrills!) the hams can eat this stuff! it smells good.

I can only use what I can find, and many brands people mention to me I not only have never seen I have never heard of. Both of these come in 7.5 oz. boxes, and are made by Hartz. One is roundish green pellet thingees - "Hartz Hamster & Gerbil Food": They don't like it too much but if it helps keep their teeth worn down it has use. The other is "Hartz Hamster & Gerbil Diet", which is a type of mix: Of all the foods I mention that I can find this might be the best. I think they have a "gourmet" variant in a plastic bottle with some extra natural ingredients. Opinions? Warning: BTW, Hartz - in its LM brand - has changed the gerbil mix and is now dishonestly sticking hamster mix (which is clearly different) in the gerbil bags, and the Petland Discounts chain in the NYC area is selling the "gerbil mix" for signifcantly more, even though the contents are identical to hamster mix.

I think the mix that has 23% protein is too high in protein. It could cause skin rashes. As long as the protein is around 12%, then it is OK for hamsters.
