I totaly understand that others have to eat, I'm not a veggie, I'm close too it, but not quite. I'm not close to a veggie by chioce I've been scared into it, I never did like the taste of beef though. I personally couldn't have a snake or lizards due to the fact of what has to be fed to them. I feel bad for crickets too, I couldn't feed them to my mice granted I've heard it's a good source of protien. If people do decide to take on the responsibility of having such an "exotoc" creature as a lizard or a snake then they get to take on the chores of feeding it too. Like some people can eat anything, I couldn't meet Henny the chicken then eat her the next night for dinner. It's an out of sight out of mind thing for me, I like snakes, but I also don't see them eating cute little furries. Dogs on dog food it doesn't look like Bessy the cow, Nemo the fish (I know they don't use clown fish), Susie the lamb, the list goes on; same with cat food, I'm not thinking of how Daisys' food was a school of happy fish before the net came scooped them up, suffacated them, and them rendered them and then got put into Daisys' food. I'm sure this doesn't make sense except for in my head. Good luck figuring out what I mean. Flutter

Snakes were not evolved for veggies -- though the snake that will eat broccoli would certainly make a more appealing housepet. It just wouldn't happen -- they need too much nutrition from every meal to make it on what essentially is water in cellulose. Has someone else failed to grasp my irony? There must be snakes who are insectivores or herbivorous. (?). None? Anyway, here is a green tree snake from the Central Park zoo. Kinda pretty.

It *is* pretty amazing -- but I doubt it eats green trees.

DF, I sometimes wonder if there's only one person who grasps your irony (and his name is DF) hehehe ;D
Hey, I've seen that snake before! The tropical rain forest at the CP Zoo is a nice place to go to warm up in the winter.

DF, I sometimes wonder if there's only one person who grasps your irony (and his name is DF) hehehe ;D Hey, I've seen that snake before! The tropical rain forest at the CP Zoo is a nice place to go to warm up in the winter. Oh, now it's MY fault!! (I was waiting for you to chime in. ). That reminds me, I'll start a thread with CP zoo photos; I know you've been there a lot. They closed and rebuilt the Prospect Park zoo in Brooklyn after some kid climbed into the polar bear enclosure and got (obviously). That's not the bad part; the bad part is the polar bears were killed by the police with shotguns. Everyone was furious over that. So, now, smaller critters there. I wonder if the gharial is still at the children's zoo, the one captured in the CP lake. He might have gotten too big. Ever feed the sheep? I like the feel of those wet warm soft lips on my hand!
