What is clearly true is that fancy mice are smart and quickly learn stuff, such as not to be afraid of me nor of being handled: the babies are taming quickly as are the adults. The babies have reached the point where they can cling to my fingers with their toes, and there eyes may open any day. I saw no more mites on close inspection a few hours ago. Next photo in below post, soon. Day 11:

They're becoming cuter each day. That's good that they're not afraid to be picked up; they're problaby used to it by now. Glad the mite problem is under control.

They are wandering outside the nest now; I put them back. More later. . . Day 12:

Day 13. They have become great jumpers!! I must hold their tails at all times or they will fly out of my hands, so be careful of that if you ever have young mice. Eyes are opening. I expect they will all be fully open next photos. I am surprised by how one of the aunts may as well be a surrogate mom. I think those same two (that aunt, and the mom) are always in there.

Oh crap. I have to take out the adults and photo them and then pick names. Any choices?
The eyes are fully open, they are exploring pretty well, unlike hamster babies who walk like drunks, and they love to jump out of my hands - why I always hold the tails. They are also too cute for words. Photos later.

Yes, they are too cute for words. Why do you have to take out the mom?...is it the same with hamsters how you have to take out the mom?
Names...well I gave you that link already. Umm...usually like said before go with your favorite actor's name, favorite character, something to do with color, setting, food, cars, whatever you find interesting or is your favorite. Thats what I do.

That link is in this thread or an IM?? I spent a few hours last night searching for that escaped gerbil, among other things, and I never seem to catch up on things anymore. I will have to get a humane trap for her. I took the adults out to photograph them and to check the babies easier. I put them right back in and they are all together. Mice are social; Syrians are not. My groups of dwarfs come from the same litters with moms. Everybody gets gender separated though, of course. They are now such jumpers I have to tightly hold their tails. Sadly, I found one baby dead of unknown causes. She will be buried with the others in my freezer in due course. Day 14.

Nothing much new for Day 15. Everthing looks fine. Lots of eating going on. They still congregate in the nest; looks very cozy. (I also found my escaped gerbil! Patience, patience).

Thats great that you found your lost gerbil! Aww...so sorry that your little mouse died. That's great that the others are doing so well though & it looks like their eyes are open. The link in this thread.

Their eyes opened Day 14 or a bit earlier. Day 16. Asleep in a heap. "My first run on the wheel!" - hard to turn! Wendy today. Obviously, the healing continues nicely. She also has a new black female friend - suggest a name if you wish. I have some new black gerbs (two female and one male), including the one I re-captured last night, and name suggestions are welcome. Went to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens yesterday - the magnolias are starting to bloom, some are in full bloom, and daffodils and many flowering cherries are in bloom. Others will bloom in the next two weeks. Took loads of photos, and walked a ton. Have to edit the digi pix, and busy busy busy. . .

I continue to consider names. . . and ways to split screen those gerbs who need to be intro'd. Day 16. Note the baby in the red tube. Just waking up.
