That is not a rat, but a VERY pregnant mouse! She may have had the litter since I took this earlier today; if not, she may have exploded! I do not breed. The pet store I know got in too many from a breeder, so I grabbed all the females (five total including the mom) leaving the males. Any more litters and they likely would have ended up sadly. (You know what I mean). A girl from an earlier litter:

She got even bigger in the days after that photo were taken last week! (I only held her by the tail for the two seconds to take the photo). The babies are here! I assume they were born last night, and the mom I can barely recognize - I have to through marking as she is now the same size as her sisters. Sadly, one sister of the five, was found dead today; natural causes I assume. Mom on the right. Note: I do not breed. She came pregnant from the pet store where they seemed over stocked. So, I have the mom, three sisters, and now the babies. I am keeping them all, of course, and will separate by gender as soon as I can.

Nice mouse. Nice babies.
*In another forum, I felt so stupid; I thought it was a gerbil.* Lol.

Their ears are about four times the size of a gerbils' ear! ;D

Hey, at least I wasn't alone. I went here during school hours (don't worry I was still doing my powerpoint project) & some guy was like, "Aww...a gerbil." Me: "Nope, a mouse." So I'm not alone...lol.

I was picking out some gerbils for the males' intros last week and some female and her obnoxious kids came in: "Look at the rats!". "Do you keep them as pets??".

Oh jeez...I was never good at names. I usually say to people pick out a favorite movie/book/author/etc that you like & think up some character names. If I didn't get Sophie, I was going to have Luke. Ya know...Luke Skywalker..lol. Anyway, this site is mainly for dogs, but I think it can be used for all types of animals. They have great names in here & they're different! Not like Max or Bruno. Here's the website if you want to check it out: www.dogomania.com/dog_names.shtmlI named several glass/seramic animals from this list & some weren't dogs. There's one name that I love from there & its Kalaya meaning "good lady." In what...I gotta find out again. Lol...check it out...maybe you'll like it!

As my latest IM says, picking names is not at the top of my To Do list right now. I will also have to photo and mark down their color schemes first. I have about eight dwarfs I have NO way of telling apart, no way I can so far see. . . I also have five gerbils to name. Whew.
