I'm not sure about this bedding that I got free when I bought a Habitrail SS cage. It's from Living World, and its made out of pine. Before I got this, I used Chipsi Classic, made out of cedar (I think). It work reasonably well, and I'm worried they'll have an allergy to it. It's 100% pine, made for hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, chinchillas and other small animals. I'm confused, so please help!!!

The problem with cedar and pine is that they have aromatic oils in them which irritate the respiratory systems of small animals.
There is some debate as to whether pine in the UK is different from pine in the US and is less dangerous for the critters, but from what I hear, it's basically the same, and ergo, just as bad.
Pine is better than cedar, but still has been linked to allergic irritation, liver problems, and respiratory problems in small animals. It smells better to us people but it isn't good for the animals.
You can give the critters the gift of a much safer and healthier life by giving them aspen, paper (such as Carefresh or Yesterday's News), or many other safe beddings.
What beddings do you have available to you?

Yeah, I've also heard pine is bad for hammies. I've also heard that aspen & carefresh are good.

Regular Carefresh is dusty though, although the critters don't seem to mind. Two tanks of gerbs are on it - and the gerbs who used to get red noses apparently from aspen do not any more.
if you can find it, Ultra Carefresh (which is white) is non-dusty, and more expensive.

When I saw it, I didn't need it -- now that I want it, I can't find it.

Thank you!
I hate mail-ordering, but I guess I'll have to look at making an exception -- still two local stores to check, though.

When I saw it, I didn't need it -- now that I want it, I can't find it. Sounds like me and a lot of things, and people. I hate mail orders also, especially as I have to impose on a neighbor to accept delivery, and be sure the vendor includes the "care of" line, which they sometimes forget. But I will likely give it a try for the another forum food, and I want to see what this UltraCarefresh is like, at least once.

I love mail-ordering - but I think it's because I am lazy and would rather pay the extra for shipping than lug around heavy bags of bedding. I also have doormen, so deliveries are a breeze (except when they lose my packages, which has happened a few times). "When I saw it, I didn't need it -- now that I want it, I can't find it." No wonder you guys are single

How much do doormen get tipped during Holidays?? Or do they get per diem gratuities? ;D I do have people who take delivery here, but, again, often companies forget the "care of" address line, causing me much chagrin.

I don't know what is standard, but I give them about $30 each (there are 5 of them). There are 480 apartments in my building, so they make a lot of money.
I also tip them whenever they do something special for me.

Jeez, I'm glad I only have just one super in this building to tip, not five!
He does nothing anyway. I do my own minor fixit jobs.
