Just tonight as I was cleaning the hammie cages, I found Hamtaro dead. The most shocking thing is she died of wet tail! I have been very busy the last few days and havnt seen my hammies much. I've been checking on them but mostly they were asleep. This was normal. I didn't want to wake them up so I gave them food and went upstairs again. (I keep them in the basement. Its finished and is the warmest in the winter, coolest in the winter and is more open to allow more air circulation)
Well tonight I was cleaning their cages and Maizh, Gizmo, and Giorgio were their happy little selves and then I go to Hamtaro's cage. She didn't poke her head out to see what was going on. I poked in and she was cold and hard, dead.[] When I took her outhew fur was matted with poo. She did look calm though as she passed in her sleep.
I feel bad because I couldn't be with her let alone NOTICE she had wet tail! Had I noticed I would have brought her to the vets right away! I dont know how she could have gotten it. I had gotten her a new wheel that I touched with my hands that touched the hamsters there. They generally aren't in very good health. I guess she had it for a while with out notice able signs. It must have just struck hard and fast.
The hamsters in that pet store, like I said, aren't generally in good health and many do seem to get wet tail. I go hamtaro from that store. She was never the healthiest. She was to thin for my liking but the vet said it was nothing. When she was 6 months old she had somewhat of a wet bottom and was lethargic. I took her to the vets and she did get better. I suppose the inevitable was prolonged but still. She was a beautiful little hammy with her shiny caot and different colored eyes. She was 10.5 moths old.
I will always miss you Hamtaro. Now you can go play on the Rainbow bridge with Shadow and your sister Peepi.
she was a livly one though.
