I was just going to bed when I did my usually check on the hamsters and found that little Delta has died. I have no idea what has killed her as she was running around her wheel about an hour ago. It looks like she has gone in her sleep as she was curled up in her nest. The worse thing is she is only 3 months old. She was one Thunder and Blaze's pups. She is Vee Man's brother. Admittingly she was tiny for her age, she was a little bit like Shadow, he never really grew. Words cannot describe how I'm feeling right now, I must be being punished for being such a jerk to some of my friends. Delta - 1/11/03 - 31/1/04 Rest in peace little girl Kane

Some of you well remember that after almost two weeks of caring for Princess last March, with two baytril does per day, and two syringe feedings between the baytil, she was recovering - and then one Sunday I noticed young Peter, one of Rainy's panda bear children, looking lethargic. Within hours he started staggering about falling into what must have been comas. He soon died in my hand. He seemed healthy just a few days before living with Zeb, his brother (they were still young, and due to be separated that week). Zeb remains fine. I have no idea what happened to such a young critter who seemed healthy. Sometimes they are fragile, and ephemeral. So sorry, Kane.

Kane, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your loss. No I don't think you're being punished. Sometimes there is just a problem that isn't noticable. I know of a thirteen year old that had died, no one knew he had a problem with his heart til after the fact. Cognac

When Peter died, described above, I sadly wrote Jeannie that it felt like Cosmic Payback for having just saved Princess. It was just bad luck; the vagaries of dealing with rodents. So I take nothing for granted; each day might be the last. . .
