As some of you know, Storm had an operation last week to repair a twisted intestine. Well since then he's done nothing but go from strength to strength. Well tonight I just had to take this picture of him munching on his favourite snack! Storm will see in the dark alot better now. This is really giving me a serious boost, as after loosing Delta this week, I felt like something hates me up there. Anyway I hope you all enjoy this picture as much as I do. Kane

That's good that your hammie is feeling better! How do the vets keep the hammies away from the surgical area? Cause elizabethian collars...I don't think they make them that small. Sorry I'm just kinda confused, I've never heard of a hammy having surgery before.

They don't use collars, Storm's wound was glued together with a type of surgical glue, which means it doesn't matter is he licks it. The glue eventually desolves as the skin heals.

"Surgical glue". Never heard of it! When i had a foot operation nine years ago it was stitches all the way. ;D

It's amazing the advances that are made over nine years, isn't it?

It's amazing the advances that are made over nine years, isn't it? I still somehow doubt that they would have glued my heel back together, but maybe so. (?) I was awake during the operation with a local, and I could feel the warmth of the blood and the noisy file as they pared down the bone of my heel as if I was a piece of wood! I suppose the same procedures are in effect today. Five days later I took the Long Island railroad to see a Stevie Nicks concert. ;D Too bad I ran out of codeine on the way back!

DF, you have quite a collection of stories there.
Kane, I'm impressed you opted to have the surgery - good for you! Glad he's doing well.
I keep hearing about one calamity after another - since the beginning of the year, people I know have been losing pets, parents and relationships. 2004 has to improve soon!

DF, you have quite a collection of stories there. . . I have them by the score. But rumor has it they cannot rival yours! ;D When the cast came off just two weeks later my calf muscle had atrophied so bad I found it very hard to walk down some stairs. it took many months before I recovered, and a few years before I stopped getting twinges. While awake, as his assistants sewed me up, the podiatrist told me filthy jokes as he thought me nervous (I wasn't, but the jokes were OK). I did manage to go to Jones Beach on the LIRR with a cast on, moving sideways. Good concert by Stevie. Right before the operation I saw Pick Floyd at the Meadowlands complete with giant pig. Everyone think good thoughts for Rainy. My well known hammie grandma is just slowing down incrementally as age progresses. Jeez, she reminds me of my mother's decline. Rainy will also be catered to for however long she has, as I am sure Phoenix is. I too am getting very tired of losing animals, but such is the way of small and furries.

The surgical glue that they use is like the same kind that they use during Boxing matches...if you have ever seen a boxing match you've seen that. When someone gets cut , they squirt it with water and glue it shut....send them back out to get some other place busted open

How old is Rainy now? I hope she feels better soon. Thanks. She was pregnant on Jan. 3rd, 2003, and seemed experienced with litters as she was a wonderful mother. So, perhaps she had previous litters. Figure on her being four to five months old on that date, or more? So, she must be at least a year-and-a-half, I guess. She gets soft foods, and excellent accomodations. But she is getting on in terms of age. BTW, I got a message from Diane, ( "4Snuffles" ) of the "other" site. After some heart trouble, her beloved Snuffles just did not wake up one day, and she is heartbroken. I asked her to post a memorial here in that forum.
