Storm is back to 100% fitness. he has fully recovered from his operation to untwist his intestines. He has also recovered from his hair loss which was caused by a virus of all things (Not skin cancer as we fist though...phew) Bright eyed and a coat full of fur, Storm is one healthy boy again! He is still a little scruffy in places, but thats to be expected. I have spent a small fortune getting Storm back to full health, but to me every penny was worth it. Kane

Congrats on the excellent recovery! He looks great, and he sure is lucky to have you. I agree 100% about vet bills being worth every penny. These little cuties are priceless

Thankfully I have had no lingering illnesses here. Rainy is only a little stiff legged, and Ringy, Princess, Ted, Peter, and Larry the runt, all passed very quickly. My first hamster, Blackie didn't, but his respiratory infection fooled me: one day I heard clicking and the next day nothing, but then it came back. By the time I figured it all out it was too late, but I know more now, and that was why I once was out the door to the emergency vet at 1 AM with Princess - and of course it was all worth the price. She passed of a stroke/heart attack six months later. Anyway, great job with Storm, and glad he's fine!

How did he twist his intestines?? Horses can do that if they have colic because they are always rolling, but I've never known a hammie to do that.

Good news! He looks mahvelous!
I'm also curious as to how the intestines were twisted. Is this a common problem that hamster owners should be on the lookout for?

And I'd like to know, one, how the condition first manifested itself, and, two, how did the vet diagnose it?
