Standard diet of greens. I trust this is normal in young iguanas.

Wait--you have an iguana now? A rescue, I assume?
I can't comment on the photo, other to say that "Holy Crap" was the perfect subject line. . .

The bearded dragons we have at Paws have that same color of poop and it looks to be the same size. I say it's fine, I'd check just in case. And I agree with Andrea, a warning please!

Aren't we delicate. ;D
Susan, the iguana expert, congratulated me on getting the iggy to do that. It is a good sign, a sign that he/she is evacuating stored up stuff normally and has the right humidity, that after I rescued the iggy a few weeks ago. She also said this much is unusual and more regular evacuations will be less in amount.
When I first saw that I thought the iggy had a rectal prolapse!

Green Bean, the young iguana, passed away yesterday. He had not been eating for several days, nor acting normally. This is what my friend Susan, reptile expert, said about this: >> Likewise, so it goes for you and GB. You did nothing wrong, and everything right. If he had a chance with anyone, it was with you. In hindsight I have thought of other possibilities as well. I already mentioned possible internal injury related to whatever circumstances occurred to break his tail. Then there's the giant poop: I originally expressed concern that he hadn't pooped, that it could have indicated a deydration problem, then he had the giant poop and I felt better - as did he I imagine! He could have gotten dehydrated enough in his pre-Tom life that it caused permanent damage to his kidneys and liver that took a while to manifest systemically. Or the giant poop - impressive by any standard, you'll admit - could have caused internal damage itself during the exit, or caused enough stress/strain (put yourself in his position) in getting it out to weaken him somehow. I have definitely seen that before - in baby iggys and young bearded dragons - where they poop out a giant poop and die a few days, sometimes even minutes, later. But the death is usually attibuted to dehydration/malnutrition, tho stress could also be a factor. You certainly couldn't have helped him in either case (your fingers are much too big!), so don't get upset about it. I am just trying to show you some of the many variables that can occur. If you are wondering about veterinary intervention, don't. The cost alone would be prohibitive, add to that his tiny size and the fact that he was in essence a baby, and his chances of surviving a surgery become slim to none. If you feel helpless, okay. That is appropriate. Guilt is not, blaming yourself is not. Again, I want to express that you did a great and valiant thing for him, and I hope you will not be so put off by this experience that you wouldn't try again if the opportunity should arise. Susan <<

Aw, I'm so sorry that GB has died. May he rest in peace and at least he knew he was in a great environment. I hope you're doing well.

Susan was also solicitous. Thanks. I am sure, as is she, there will be another opportunity in due course, especially after her rescue group. www.scarnyc.org, gets many young iggies rescued from the street fairs, common this time of year. We have one next Sunday in my neighborhood.

I have some reptile lights here ($60 total) I have no need for. *shrugs* Reptiles and I are not working.
I do know now that many young iguanas are just not healthy due to how they are unfortunately treated.
