You may recall the young iguana I rescued months ago passed away despite my efforts and the advice of my friend and reptile expert, Susan. I have an expensive UVB light, and other bulbs, here, in storage. The large My First Home cage, multi-level, that Green Bean the iguana was in is now home to three spiny mice. Unless I get a rescue reptile those lights will stay unused. My finches remain in their cage. Nothing has changed. If I had the time I'd spray the cage a dark purple as it is too white (very reflective), but not now. The parakeets, Breena and Tana, are fine living in a tank and laying eggs. These are rescues, as were the finches, but the keets have deformed legs and cannot perch - why they use a tank. Heather the cockatiel lost a leg, as you may recall, that from exploring the rats' cage once too often. The minor bite got necrosis, and the leg fell off! But she is fine nonetheless. She stays in her BIG cage most of the time now for safety, but occasionally gets out to fly around a little. They all eat a mixture of Zupreme bird food, and pet store mix for each type of bird at a ratio of 55:45. They get occasional greens and fruits, et al, although Heather does not care for them usually. Only on rare occasions is Heather so noisy as to be irritating. And that lasts briefly. But during that time it is very loud!
