My parent's friends are currently taking care of a baby squirrel, which they found abandoned on their balcony. They're pretty sure it's abandoned because for almost an hour they waited behind their sliding door to see if a mother would pick it up, but she was a no-show. I don't know what breed it is, but I think it probably won't be a common Red or Grey squirrel because I live in South East Asia, not the US (: It's thin, and has dark brown fur ticked with black hair. It's very young, it's eyes are just beginning to open. They feed him/her powdered milk solution intended for puppies, is that okay? And I'm pretty sure they have a feeding schedule for him/her. And they keep him/her in a little tub, wrapped up but not too tightly in soft towels.
Do any of you have some information you feel that they need to know? I really want this little baby to live... So any input is greatly appreciated (:

I think, by the info you're giving, the squirrel is about 5 weeks old. Maybe a little bit younger but when they are 4-5 weeks the eyes start to open They are doing a good job, Baby squirrels get cold very quickly so keep it wrapped in a towel. We usually put baby squirrels wrapped in a towel in a plastic box with a hot water bottle to keep them warm. In about a week it should be moved into a bigger ?cage? so it can climb around, and learn to use it's muscles(about 50 cm high). And they have to start giving him rodentfood, he'll start eating it when he's about 6 weeks old When they can't give him special squirrelfood they can just give him hamsterfood mixed with birdseeds. This is everything I remember, I used to help raise baby red squirrels

Thanks, I'll pass that on (: Are there any protein %, fat %, etc. requirements I should tell them to look for when buying food? I looked for a wildlife rehab center in Singapore, the only one I found seems to target saving animals from the illegal wildlife trade, here's the link.
