Oh my god, It's unbelievable! I buried Tempest Storm....ALIVE! I thought she had died, I was pretty sure because I didn't feel her breathe. So I buried her 2 days ago, and went to my mother for the weekend. So my dad called yesterday to ask me was color Tempie was..Well she's a RE Creme banded. So I asked my dad why he needed to know that..He said: The neighbors found a hamster and they came to us because they know you have allot of animals including a few hamsters. Well my dad asked her what color the hamster was, she said it was a brown one...So I didn't think it was Tempie. My dad asked me if she could borrow one of my empty cages..well off course she could, So she went home to pick up the hamster and at the same moment she came back my older sister came home from work. Angelique(sister) looked very estranged at the hamster and said to my dad: I thought Angie told me Tempie was death, I even saw her bury her... OH OH! So it was my girl....Very stupid of me. But I'm happy she is still alive and well, she had to cross a busy road to get to the house of the neighbors, and there are allot of cats in the neighborhood we're in....

Is that a true story - or a nightmare? Suggestion: a hamster is dead for sure when it goes STIFF (rigor mortis). And then I let him/her get even stiffer. And then I wait several more hours. The critter is not going to start moving again - unless there are zombie hamsters. Yours is one very unlucky, but then very LUCKY, hamster.

Yeah, I already waited a few hours and she was curled up in the same pose, I didn't feel or saw her chest move, she didn't move when I picked her up and she didn't bite me, as she does normally when I pick her up. But I'm not the first one, and won't be the last one fooled by her hamster.. I posted the same thread one a few other sites and I got 4 reply-messages saying It happend to them too...and very weird: always with Syrian. But next time I will get a second opinion

Feel the limbs. Try to move them. If they are really stiff the poor thing is almost certainly dead.
I also look at the eyes. I also put the nose to my ear. I also put a small mirror under the nose to see if there is breath on the mirror.
Scary story. Yikes.

It IS unbelievable! But she's back to you, and what a happy ending to what seemed to be a tragic tale!
