www.adoptuskids.orgSaw a public service announcement TV commercial on the local NYC TV station for that group. Two kids run up to woman vacuuming in her house; they are holding a hamster cage saying, "Mom, have you seen Herman??". At that point the vacuum cleaner starts smoking, makes a noise, and bursts into flame! Funny? Well, Herman is promptly seen walking across the rug, unharmed. But these kind of things make me uncomfortable.

Yes, me too. What was the value in having this type of suspense--involving the potential death of an animal?

On Youtube I saw a bear on skates playing hockey. How not funny--it's a bear they shouldn't be doing that kind of thing. The worse thing about these commercials and Youtube showings is that people think it's funny when it's not.

In Russian circuses bears wear tutus and ride unicycles! BTW, the point of that commercial was that kids will happily put up with stupid adults.

Yes, indeed. There is a certain irony to all that. ;D

Stupid adults shouldn't adopt kids! come to think of it i also so that commercial and thought boy what a dumb family ! first off children should never be allowed to use appliances or tools of any kind without proper supervision and second of all i agree stupid adults have no business raising children in the first place cause they are in a way children themselves inside their minds... thats just my view on the commercial

Oh I just thought about another horrible commercial. Some parent is calling to the school to say their child is changed, in the background you see the child putting a vacuum in the fish tank and then it exploding. Poor fish.

What is it with people that find the death of rodents funny? Or when they say "it was only a [insert fav rodent here] and you can get another one".

well simply because most people have the misconception that pets are disposable and when that one dies they can just go and get another pet without giving much thought that the previous pet was pretty special in itself and they dont really care about the pets life too much.
fact: a pet is a living breathing creature too that also has feelings and should be cared for with the greatest care and love from their owners . and for some reason that the owner cant care for that animal they should try to find it a home where it can recieve the love and care its need to live a full life.

You can look (or do a search) for the infamous rat/microwave scene in a thread Animal News, as I recall, from a month or two ago. It caused major uproar.

Here is a photo of the last scene in that commercial, vacuum cleaner in the background. BTW, it appears his name was actually Ichabod!

Ugh on You Tube I saw some one who was feeding there hamster to a snake, which is fine and all, but they filed it under the "funny" category. Argh, and people laugh and wrote comments like "That was awsome, made me laugh!"

>> feeding there hamster to a snake, which is fine and all << Not hardly. And that is not atypical of snake people, and why I don't like them. I think many have a sadistic streak and are not animal lovers. Breeding snakes ought to be outlawed or permitted only with hard to obtain licenses.
