So yesterday my mom and her BF gave me a big surprise; 2 brand new rat-cages! exactly the one I already wanted for the boys, so I'm very happy ;D today I cleaned all of their toys and stuff and 'build' the cages. I only made some pictures of the girls-cage: It's still a bit empty, but that's because the hammocks where in the washer. I also ordered some new stuff; comfort wheels suspension bridges and things like that the cage is 100x52x120 cm, so it's pretty big(it can hold up 11 rats)

Cool! >>the cage is 100x52x120 cm, so it's pretty big(it can hold up 11 rats)<< That's 39.5 x 20.5 x 47 inches for the metrically challenged.

>> So yesterday my mom and her BF gave me a big surprise; 2 brand new rat-cages! << Just what every girl would want! Well, it is what WE would want. Oh, speaking of rats, I lost Bart yesterday. See Memorial forum. BTW, Max and Telly snuggle very peacefully. Telly will grow and catch up to the much bigger Mx. What's in that cabinet? Little Potato Heads?? Where'd you get those tubes? >> It's still a bit empty, << Looks filled to me. Looks great. Would not those online cage calculators say it needs more floor space for "up to 11" rats? I am not saying I agree with those calculators. It seems they like cages very wide and low as opposed to those with lots of vertical height, as one of mine has, the one with Margie in there alone. Poor old thing. I give her what she likes. And she loves banana. We await photos with the rats in there.

Those tubes are from ferplast, I bought them at the petstore The calculator I usually use only says "if space is used wisely"..wel I think I use the space wisely so no problems there..Soon there will be more platforms in there, I've ordered them already so I'm waiting on the package to arrive. But I'm not getting more boys so it stays with 6 in there, and the girls are also with 6 at the moment

I'm still very much in love with the cage(I've had them for over 4 months now) they're easy to clean, you can even build up only half of the cage so it's about 70 cm high and not 120 cm.. the cage is called "Bunny R102H" >>you can't GET that stuff on this island<< you can make a great Rat-home with just ordinary house-stuff like that pink "thing" in my cage, on the left, its actually a piece of: A bathroom-trolley and the Grey house-thing on top of that is a pigeon's water"bowl" The yellow hanging thing is: it's from the Ikea, *mini-Fängst*, and I bought it for €0,50; it's very cheap I always make my own Hammocks, If I bought them at the pet store it'll cost me about €80 a months :S For tubes you can also use plastic rain pipes or even cardboard tubes like these; I just started making my own rope-ladders, I already made climbing-ropes with fleece. It's a lot cheaper and much more fun to make your own stuff and only buy the basic stuff at a pet store(Oh, and most of my stuff I have at the moment isn't even available in the Netherlands, so I have to ship it from Gr. Br. )

That's cool that you think of things to make and then make them. Those toys are pretty cool!

How long does all that stuff last? What about cleaning? Must take a long time. They must LOVE the first one most of all. Great stuff.

I kinda like the girl-cage more, because there is much more stuff in it (2nd en 3th picture). The boy-cage has less stuff because they usually sleep The cube(that blue/black thing) is their favourite hammock because they can sleep in or on top of it. I made it myself, was really hard! Uhm...I usually throw away 1 Hammock per cage-cleaning(every week) because they totally wrecked it The other stuff is permanent..never have to throw anything away(things I don't use I put away for next time) My rats are living on fabric now, I take out the fleece/towel every other day and replace it with a new one. I have 3 litterpans in the male-cage and 2 in the female-cage, and those I clean 2x per week. My girls are all litterpan-trained, my boys are sometimes a bit lazy zo I clean their shelfs every day with hot water.

Your rats must be loving their cages, others must be envious of their homes.
