Photo Link hereMargie passed away a few weeks ago. Her brothers, Marcus, Aurelius, Oculus, and Tux, went before her. I did not feel up to posting for each. They were born in November of 2006, surprise litters of their moms Moet and Chandon. Fifteen of their siblings have gone before those five. Photos are up in the Rat forum for that month of the babies (very cute). Margie passed away soon after I got Annie, who now has little Kahini and Pania. Kahini is a black and white hooded and sister of identical Rangi who is in with the guys: Telley the hairless, Petey (Margie's brother), and Max the blue. It was like yesterday I hand raised those babies. Such short lives. I wish I could have done more for them all. But I kept them from the snakes. I would not return them to the pet store for that reason. RIP all of you.

The end of an era. RIP all. And hats off to you, DF, for your efforts to give them a better life (or, shall we say, a LIFE, period?).

Thanks. Yea, the store owner told me what would happen to them if I brought them back. He had little choice. Of course if he was more careful with gender separation in the first place. . .
Adoption efforts were considerable, and of very limited success. The two that left, Ebony and Ivory, came back with the cage the new guys are in - a big Coast cage for rats. Cost $129. But I got it free. That adoption story is in the Rat forum, early 2007, and then later in the year when I traveled to pick them up.
